Parents should be registered and active members of the Parish. SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY: The Bride and Groom should call the Parish Office at least six months before the date of the marriage. Please bring recent copies of your Baptismal certificate. Those under 21 should not set a marriage date until Diocesan permission has been obtained. PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK: We want to assist those who cannot celebrate Mass with us because of illness, age or handicap. If you or a family member desires to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Eucharist or Anointing of the Sick at home or in the hospital, please call the PARISH OFFICE. In the event of an upcoming surgery, call the Parish Office to arrange a mutually convenient time for Anointing. By LAW, hospitals cannot notify us when parishioners are admitted. ROSARY NEWS: There will be no Rosary Meeting in December. The next Rosary meeting will be Thursday, January 18 th, at 6pm in the Church Hall. HELP WANTED: We are looking for volunteers to help with our Bingo games. Bingo is one of our most attended and profitable fundraising activities and is lots of fun. The Rosary Society has been holding Bingo games on Tuesday evenings for many years. All parishioners are invited to join our bingo teams, who work once every 5 weeks. You do not have to be a member of the Rosary Society to volunteer. Activities include the selling of cards, callers, selling snacks or general assistance. The proceeds from bingo are used to support St. Michael s parish. If you are interested in this exciting volunteer opportunity, contact Maria Swieton at 518-782-1203. PRESENTATION OF THE GIFTS: When a Mass is being offered for a deceased family member, please notify an usher before Mass starts, if you are planning on bringing up the gifts during the offertory. This will insure that there are gifts for each family to present when there are multiple intentions being offered. Faith Formation News Director: Kathy Burns (518)237-0370; (518)428-6353 Welcome, Sarah Thayer, to our Church. Sarah is studying the Catholic faith through our R.C.I.A. Program and she will receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation on Holy Saturday in 2018. Please keep her in your prayers. We will be celebrating the Children's Liturgy of The Word this Sunday, December 10 th, at 9am. Children of all ages are welcome. First Communion students will make their first Confession on Wednesday, December 13 th, at 6pm with Father Peter. This is normal class time. Please contact Mrs. Burns if you have a scheduling conflict for this day. Please continue to review the Form for Confession and Act of Contrition with your child. On Wednesday, December 6 th, grades 1 5 made Christmas cards for our elderly parishioners. If you know someone who would enjoy receiving a card, please contact Kathleen Burns at 518-428-6353. Youth Ministry (grades 6-10) will be meeting on Saturday, December 16 th, at 1pm in the Parish Center to help Cohoes Public Library with their Santa letter project. Please return completed permission slips to Mrs. Burns this week. We will be packing food at the Regional Food Bank on Sunday, December 17 th, 1pm to 4pm. Please return completed permission slips to Mrs. Burns this week. We continue to visit the United Church of Cohoes kitchen to serve hot meals on the third Saturday of each month from 3pm to 5:45pm. ALL faith Formation classes will participate in this event. We will have pizza and a birthday cake for Jesus. Students are asked to bring a new, unwrapped infant gift which will be donated to the Birthright program. An informational flyer has been sent home to parents. Please help us celebrate the real reason for the season! THIS IS WHAT WE'RE LEARNING IN FAITH FORMATION CLASS Grade 1: Continuing to practice their prayers. Completing the Old Testament stories and beginning to focus on the birth of Jesus. Made Christmas cards for the elderly. Grade 2: Having our last rehearsal before we celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation with Father Peter on December 13 th. Grade 3: Studying the season of Advent. Don't forget to open a flap each day on your Advent calendar! Made Christmas cards for the elderly. Grade 4: Advent Bingo was fun last week. Continuing our prayer chain and learning more about The Apostles Creed. Grade 5: Made Christmas cards for the elderly and are moving into the season of Advent more deeply. Grade 6&7: Reviewing the Sunday Gospel reading. As part of our lesson on the corporal works of mercy, we will be collecting gently used tee shirts to donate to a local shelter. Grade 8&9: Made Advent calendars that include a daily Bible reading along with a sweet treat! Continue to focus on the season of Advent. Grade 10: Jeopardy! Guys against the Girls; who will prevail? Monthly Monday Night Class met on November 27 th. We prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet, reviewed the season of Advent and played Advent Bingo. Next meeting is Monday, December 18 th, at 6pm.
