PRAYER OF CONFESSION Almighty God, we confess how hard it is to admit our complete dependence on you. We need the comfort and assurance that you are leading us. We need to admit that we are weak, that we are weary and worn down: by the pressures of daily living, by the frailties of body and spirit, by asking ourselves to do less or more than we are able. In our weakness we then turn inward, too weary to give to others as you have called us to do. We need your help to come through the times when our vitality feels nearly depleted. God of our strength, rescue us and renew us, that we might be refreshed to do your will in the world. In Jesus Christ we pray. She replied, The head of John the baptizer. 25 Immediately she rushed back to the king and requested, I want you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter. 26 The king was deeply grieved; yet out of regard for his oaths and for the guests, he did not want to refuse her. 27 Immediately the king sent a soldier of the guard with orders to bring John s head. He went and beheaded him in the prison, 28 brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the girl.
