Henry Purcell Magnificat and Nunc dimittis in G minor My soul doth magnify Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded lowliness his handmaiden. For behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath magnified me, and holy is his Name. And his mercy is on m that fear him throughout all generations. He hath showed strength with his arm; he hath scattered proud in imagination ir hearts. He hath put down mighty from ir seat, and hath exalted humble and meek. He hath filled hungry with good things, and rich he hath sent empty away. He remembering his mercy hath holpen his servant Israel, as he promised to our forefars, Abraham and his seed for ever. Anm The people sit. William Boyce O where shall wisdom be found? And where is place understanding? Man knoweth not price re; Neir is it found in land living. The depth saith, It is not in me: And sea saith, It is not with me. It cannot be gotten for gold, neir shall silver be weighed for price re. No mention shall be made coral, or pearls for price wisdom is above rubies. Whence n cometh wisdom? and where is place understanding? seeing it is hid from eyes all living. God understandeth way re, and He knoweth place re. For He looketh to ends earth, And seeth under whole heav n; To make weight for winds; and He weigheth waters by measure, He weigheth waters by measure. When He made a decree for rain, and a way for lightning thunder; n did He see it, and declare it; He prepared it, yea, and searched it out. And unto man He said, Behold, fear Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding. The Readings Acts 8: 26 40 Then an angel Lord said to Philip, Get up and go toward south to road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza. (This is a wilderness road.) So he got up and went. Now re was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court ficial Candace, queen Ethiopians, in charge her entire treasury. He had come to Jerusalem to worship and was returning home; seated in his chariot, he was reading prophet Isaiah. Then Spirit said to Philip, Go over to this chariot and join it. So Philip ran up to it and heard him reading prophet Isaiah. He asked, Do you understand what you are reading? He replied, How can I, unless someone guides me? And he invited Philip to get in and sit beside him. Now passage scripture that he was reading was this: Like a sheep he was led to slaughter, and like a lamb silent before its shearer, so he does not open his mouth. In his humiliation justice was denied him. Who can describe his generation? For his life is taken away from earth. The eunuch asked Philip, About whom, may I ask you, does prophet say this, about himself or about someone else? Then Philip began to speak, and starting with this scripture, he proclaimed to him good news about Jesus. As y were going along road, y came to some water; and eunuch said, Look, here is water! What is to prevent me from being baptized? He commanded chariot to stop, and both m, Philip and eunuch, went down into water, and Philip baptized him. When y came up out water, Spirit Lord snatched Philip away; eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing. But Philip found himself at Azotus, and as he was passing through region, he proclaimed good news to all towns until he came to Caesarea. John 15: 1 8 Jesus said, "I am true vine, and my Far is vinegrower. He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit. You have already been cleansed by word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in vine, neir can you unless you abide in me. I am vine, you are branches. Those who abide in me and I in m bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. Whoever does not abide in me is thrown away like a branch and wirs; such branches are gared, thrown into fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Far is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples."
