This incident adds yet another frustrating layer of pain to our sorrow from the many brutal shootings and bombings that have taken lives and wreaked havoc across our nation in recent years. We grieve for the families of those who were tragically slain by this gunman, and we are grateful to God that he has been apprehended by police. We in the Philadelphia area join our many ecumenical and interfaith partners in praying for the Willards Camp 15 Caregivers Workshop 19 Next Newsletter July 8, 2015 Being the Hands and Feet of

Bishop s Statement Continued from Page 1 people of Mother Emanuel and Charleston. As we lift our anguished prayers to God, we must also renew our concerted efforts to teach people that hate and violence are not valid means for solving problems, and that angry thoughts and words too often lead to violent deeds. We must teach that hate and racism are not acceptable in any setting of our society, least of all in our churches. And we must work together prayerfully toward the day when such crimes as this will no longer happen. Sincerely, Bishop Peggy A. Johnson Philadelphia Episcopal Area The United Methodist Church Transforming Lives Through Jesus Christ In The Sending persons into the world to live lovingly and justly as servants of Christ by healing the sick, feeding the hungry, caring for the stranger, freeing the oppressed, being and becoming a compassionate, caring presence, and working to develop social structures that are consistent with the Gospel. - Excerpt from Mission Statement - Quindocqua UMC 29020 L.Q. Single Parent Family Retreat July 17-19, 19, 2015 Summer Silent Retreat July 20-24, 2015 Come experience a daily rhythm of prayer, simple meals, communing with God in nature, communion, and spiritual direction. Riverview Retreat Center Camp Pecometh on the Chester River near Centreville, MD offers a beautiful setting for all the exciting programs offered. IT S NOT TOO LATE FOR SUMMER CAMP! Many people think that because the first day of camp is this Sunday that it s too late to sign up for a week this summer. No way. Nearly a fifth of our camp registrations occur AFTER the first day of camp. Still need convincing that it makes difference? Listen to what Jessica Benton, Youth Director at Hillsboro-Queen Anne UMC, has to say: It is hard to describe the Camp Pecometh experience. Each experience is so unique and personal. I am a former camper myself and so is my husband. Two of my three sons attend every summer and the youngest will attend when he is old enough. I have worked with youth my entire life and I have not seen a Camp as well rounded as Camp Pecometh. The camp combines life and social skills with spirituality in a fun wholesome environment. All the staff are talented in dealing with every personality type and making each child feel very comfortable and welcome. The safety and welfare of each child is taken very seriously and all staff are well trained in this area as well. There are many different types of specialty camps at Pecometh. My personal favorite is Riverside because it is a good combination of activities. I have held the position of youth director at my church for 5 years. Each year I head the fundraising to send 20 children fully paid to Camp Pecometh. This is no easy task but one I feel strongly enough to take on because I believe in the importance of the experience. We have camperships available so that camp is possible for every kid. Get the Summer Camp Brochure now or email me at jack@pecometh.org to let us know how we can help. www.pecometh.org
