ALL SAINTS News Fourth Week in Ordinary Time Year A Psalter 2 www.allsaintsteignmouth.org.uk cymfed.org.uk/flame2017 On Saturday 11th March 2017, 10,000 young Catholics will gather at Wembley Arena for CYMFed Flame 2017. Throughout the day speakers will give bursts of input, interspersed with world class drama, and music provided by double Grammy award-winning Matt Redman and his band. The day will end with a time of Adoration led by Cardinal Vincent Nichols. Flame 2017 is open to anyone in year 10 and above, up to young adult. A group from our Parish will be joining with others from the Diocese and travelling up by coach. A long but amazing fun-filled day! The Parish is supporting this event, and it will cost just 5 each to attend! A small (but select!) group went to the last Flame and all had a wonderful time. If you would like to join us or know anyone who would be interested, please contact Erin on 07944 024156 You can also find Flame on Facebook at 'CYMFed Flame Congress' and Twitter @FlameCongress.

Please see Fr Mark for more details New Evangelization Following on from the six week reflection on Becoming Intentional Disciples we are now looking to move forward in our putting the Pope s call for a new evangelisation into practice as a parish community. The Diocese has asked each parish to form a group to reflect and instigate this. We already have a small group of people but if you would be interested in being involved then come to the meeting on Tuesday 7 February at 7.45 pm at OLSP Church Fr Mark Our Lady & St Patrick s School We are looking for parishioners who would be interested in helping to read to our Foundation Stage children. As much or as little time as you can spare would be wonderful. Please contact the school office Tel 773905 if you are interested. Well Done to all at Our Lady & St Patrick s School, which has been ranked 27 out of approximately 370 Devon schools, in the Primary Real Schools Guide 2017, compiled by Trinity Mirror s data unit. This aims to give a far more comprehensive picture than traditional league tables. Congratulations to the children, parents/carers, staff and governors for these magnificent results. Your hard work and dedication is truly appreciated and now acknowledged for others to see. Lepra fighting disease, poverty and prejudice At OLSP School, we think it s important that children are
aware of the world around them and so that is why we agreed to invite a representative from Lepra to OLSP to educate children about the damaging effects of some of the world s oldest and most neglected diseases, such as leprosy. We also believe that fundraising is a fun way for children to learn about some of the issues that affect their world and gives them the opportunity to learn that a contribution, however big or small, can make a huge difference. Getting involved can also empower them as individuals and teach them valuable life skills. The assembly and subsequent Zumba Lepra Workout challenge session helped our children understand and feel enthusiastic about the cause they are supporting. Our Year 5 children also heard the Gospel story of the leper that week so were particularly moved to respond in prayer and action. Children collected sponsorship and have returned them on to the Community Fundraiser. Everyone got something special to take home. This includes a badge for all those that participated, and every child who raised over 25 got one of their fabulous bendy man alarm clocks. We are amazed and delighted to say that our children and their families have raised in excess of 800. 3 buys a pair of shoes so someone can walk again 21 can give health education to a school of up to 100 children 60 funs the educational support for a child living in a lepros colony, so they can go to school. The Lepra rep went out of her way to compliment the children whole-heartedly on their behaviour and reception this morning. The Zumba lady backed her up on this also. Quote the best school she has visited in years and we must be very proud of our children. Congratulations
A gentle reminder to all parents please be aware that candles and incense are hot when being processed, please don t let children run around. Bishop Mark reflections that the Bishops of England and Wales would like to open up to everyone. To achieve this, we are developing a resource called The Art of Dying Well for the digital age. This site is for those who are dying, their friends and family, for carers and makes a contribution to the national debate about death. The Art of Dying Well prayer cards which feature the traditional prayer for the dying are available at the back of church. Bishop John Sherrington Auxiliary Bishop of Westminster Bishop for Day for Life The Art of Dying Well This is a new website that offers help and support to those grappling with issues around the meaning of dying and death. Based in the Catholic tradition but open to all, it features real life stories about dealing with the journey through death to eternal life.
