Baby Bottle Coin Drive To help raise funds to support its ongoing work, the Alight Center is repeating last year s successful Baby Bottle Coin Drive. The bottles have been placed in the Church vestibules. We encourage parishioners to take a bottle home, (the bottles can be found at the Church entrances) and over the next few weeks place their loose change in them. Bottles are to be returned the Labor Day weekend. Be on the lookout for these bottles, and support the work of the Alight Center in providing young moms and dads to give life and love to their infants.

Momnipotent Scripture Study for Moms A Scripture Study to Help You Find Peace, Balance and Joy Informational meeting Wednesday, July 13th at 7 p.m. at St. Mary's Academy Is being a mother what you thought it would be? The exhaustion, monotony, mounting unfinished projects, loss of a sense of self Too many moms feel disillusioned, overwhelmed and alone. Many moms quietly resign themselves to the idea that peace, happiness, and joy are things they will need to find in spite of motherhood, not because of it. Momnipotent will help you move to the next level in your vocation by empowering you with feminine strengths for your vocation. For information, call Maura Nedwell- 851-3688 Year of Mercy Event The next year of Mercy event sponsored the Carmelite Sisters of the Aged and Infirm at 600 Woods Road, Germantown, will take place Friday, July 15th, at 4:00 p.m. Evening Prayer for the Vigil of the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel will be chanted by the Sisters and will be followed by Benediction. All are welcome. For further information call 518-537-5000 or check www.carmelitesisters.com. Discount Heating Oil Price Once again Resurrection Church is in the process of obtaining a favorable and competitive heating oil price for the 2016-2017 heating season. There are touching stories, shared by people who were not very generous at one point in their lives, testifying that by learning to be generous, their lives were definitely transformed for the better. Maintaining vigilance Sexual Abuse is a sin and a crime. The Diocese of Albany urges all who suspect sexual abuse of a minor by a member of the clergy, church employee or volunteer, to report this to a local law enforcement agency or District Attorney s office. Additional information for reporting may be found at http://www.rcda.org/reportsexualabuse. You may also contact Anthony Cortese, the Diocesan Assistance Coordinator, at (518) 453-6646; or you may send him an email at assistance.coordinator@rcda.org

School Supplies Needed for Kids School supplies costs can be daunting! School districts issue lists of supplies needed by children each year, and if your family budget is stretched thin, this list can be a big burden. This year, along with the tremendous need in our schools, Catholic Charities has contacted us to say that they have been asked to help approximately 150 children in need of supplies and backpacks. We are happy to help Catholic Charities in any way possible; and so we ask you to please be generous when donating supplies,. Catholic Charities has also asked that, if your budget allows, you consider donating a backpack or two, as these are more expensive items for families to buy. Cursillo! The Albany Cursillo Movement is hosting the 59th Women s Cursillo Weekend on August 18 th 21 st at the Dominican Retreat and Conference Center in Niskayuna. A Men s weekend will be held October 6 th -9 th. Cursillo (means short course in Spansih) originated in Spain in the mid-20 th century as a way to re-ignite men s dedication to their spirituality and keep it a focal point in their lives. It provides a way to deepen one s understanding of Catholicism and encourage lay leadership. The three-day weekend provides Catholics with reflections, talks, and meditations that are designed to give us an encounter, with Christ and with each other. Topics includes: Ideals, Grace, the Sacraments, Piety, Study, Action, and Lay Leadership in the Church. Spiritual directors for the 2016 Women s weekend include Fr. Frank O Connor, as well as Deacon Warren Dorsch and Sisters Betsy Van Deusen, CSJ and Sue Zemgulis, OP. A Men s Cursillo weekend is scheduled for October. (518) 828-8660 speck@cathcharcg.org Thanks for your help! A storm in West Virginia in late June caused significant damage, injury, and the tragic loss of life across the state. Thanks to the generous contributions of parishioners to the special Catholic Charities Appeal back in April, Catholic Charities West Virginia was able to reach out to those who lost loved ones, lost homes, and those who lives and sources of income were affected by the devastation. With the resources our parishioners and others provided Catholic Charities West Virginia was able join with other agencies in helping evacuate people from dangerous situations and provide temporary shelter, food and other basic needs. In the next phase of their work Catholic Charities WV is identifying potential ways to help sustain a long term recovery. Thanks for helping make this work possible! To register, or to obtain additional information, please call Barbara Dombrowski A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE by Bud Ozar Children learn by watching us. Do they see you helping others like the Good Samaritan, or do they see you avoiding others like the Levite in today s gospel. Worry more about what your children see in YOUR LIFE than what they see on TV. Reflections on today s Scriptures Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time He replied to him, You have answered correctly; do this and you will live. In today s Gospel a scholar questions Jesus about how to gain eternal life. In case anyone ever wonders whether heaven is within reach, one only needs to refer to this Gospel. Jesus provides a clear answer that gives us a clear plan of action: We are to love God with all that we are, and also to love our neighbors. Really, it s that simple. The scholar, however, complicated things to make himself look better. Instead of accepting the simplicity of Jesus' instruction, he wanted to split hairs, asking, And who is my neighbor? Jesus replied with the story of the Good Samaritan-and the lesson that our neighbors are not just those we know or love. Rather, our neighbor is the person that needs our help, the person whom we would rather ignore, the person whom God puts in our path. In short, everyone is our neighbor and we are called to treat everyone with mercy. This is part of how we gain eternal life But this flows from the first element of Jesus answer. First and foremost, Jesus instructs us to love God with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind. When we love God in this way, truly as the Lord of our life, then loving our neighbors becomes the easy part. When our hearts and minds are full of the love of God-who loves all people-then it will necessarily follow that we too will desire to share that love with others and not count the cost. The Good Samaritan is an excellent example of this kind of love. Without hope of repayment, he gave of his time and his money to help the poor victim. But in return, the Samaritan will surely gain eternal life. - Gina Loehr Readings for the Week of July 10 Sunday: Dt 30:10-14/Ps 69:14, 17, 30-31, 33-34, 36-37 or Ps 19:8-11/Col 1:15-20/Lk 10:25-37 Monday: Is 1:10-17/Ps 50:8-9, 16-17, 21, 23/Mt 10:34-11:1 Tuesday: Is 7:1-9/Ps 48:2-8/Mt 11:20-24 Wednesday: Is 10:5-7, 13b-16/Ps 94:5-10, 14-15/Mt 11:25-27 Thursday: Is 26:7-9, 12, 16-19/Ps 102:13-21/Mt 11:28-30 Friday: Is 38:1-6, 21-22, 7-8/Is 38:10-12, 16/Mt 12:1-8 Saturday: Mi 2:1-5/Ps 10:1-4, 7-8, 14/Mt 12:14-21 Sunday: Gn 18:1-10a/Ps 15:2-5/Col 1:24-28/Lk 10:38-42 Worry looks around.
