So long. See you later. Take care. Goodbyes are softened with the promise of another meeting. Till we meet again. The time between the goodbye and the reunion is filled with joyful hope and anxious waiting. Surely the disciples wondered if they had the tools they needed to survive that time. Jesus had been their leader, visionary, messiah, and friend. Without him, life would lose its center. Jesus goodbye came with two promises. He promised that the Holy Spirit would guide the disciples in his absence, and he promised that he would come again. That left them in an inbetween kind of time. After the goodbye, they waited for his coming again. In fact, that is where we are too. We are in between the visits of Jesus, a time of hope and anxiety. We often wonder if we have the tools we need to survive. We need vision and companionship on life s long road. We have at our disposal the first promise of Jesus, the gift of the Holy Spirit. That Spirit will guide us through times of loneliness, into good decisions, amid the sorrows of sad goodbyes. The Spirit is our center. Written by Paul Turner. Prayer is always the first best option in any situation, not just the last resort. Pray for friends and family and for those that don t treat you very well. Pray to give praise, to thank and to ask God for help. Pray to see what God wants you to do with the gifts He has given you. Prayer of the Faithful That we learn to pray not only in bad times, but also in good times. Pray for family, friends and those that may not treat us well.

Ascension of the Lord Page 5 May 28, 2017 Saying Goodbye to the Class of 2017 When I began my tenure as administrator of St. Patrick Catholic School, the students from the Class of 2017 were in 4 th grade. After nine years together, on Sunday, May 21, we said goodbye to the Class of 2017 as they entered a new phase of their lives. Our goal is to ensure that when our seniors receive their diplomas in front of the altar on graduation day, they will have a rock-solid foundation for a successful life--a life that our Lord has prepared for each one of them. Our goal is that they will continue to serve as living representatives of our school mission statement: We Pray! We Learn! We Achieve! It is my belief that the Class of 2017 not only lived our mission statement but leaves our school with that rock-solid foundation in place to continue living that statement. They provided sound leadership and were more than willing to serve as role models for our younger students. They had solid suggestions for ways to improve our school and were well-prepared to be leaders throughout their senior year. Graduation began with Mass celebrated by Bishop Walkowiak, Father Larry King, Deacon Mike Steffes and our seniors. After Mass, Mr. Hodge began commencement by sharing the major achievements of the Class of 2017 which included: 15 are members of the National Honor Society. 15 were recognized as CMAC Scholar Athletes meaning they had at least a 3.4 GPA and lettered in at least two sports. 18 out of the 20 plan to go on to higher education (spread among 11 different colleges and universities). One will enter the workforce and one has enlisted in the U.S. Army. Two have signed National Letter of Intents to participate in college athletics. 12 are graduating with honors (3.79 GPA or higher) with seven of those having a weighted 4.0 GPA or higher. They were offered a total of $793,330 in scholarship money over the next four years. They have accepted $314,000 of that money from the schools they plan on attending in the fall. Salutatorian Brittany Thelen and Valedictorian Emma Trierweiler addressed their classmates sharing accomplishments, memories, good times together and all the possibilities for a great future for their classmates. Following the speeches, the graduates were called forward to receive their diploma from Bishop David Walkowiak. One by one, they turned their tassels and the Class of 2017 joined a group of more than 2,200 living Shamrock alumni around the world. Our Pastor, Fr. Larry King closed the ceremony with a blessing of the graduates and the class of 2017 processed out of church and into the future. There were hugs to give and pictures to take. Finally, caps were tossed as an official ending to a great school career by a great group of students. They are leaving us with a rock-solid foundation of values, knowledge, wisdom, and faith. I can say with the utmost certainty that they prayed, they learned, and yes, without a doubt, they achieved. May God bless every one of them and their future endeavors as they move to the next phase of their lives. Randy Hodge, School Administrator -Saint Augustine
