Through His death on the Cross and because He is indeed God we can come to Him and find forgiveness. We can be washed clean and we can have a new start. If we are Christians let us thank the Lord for His wonderful salvation and let us, like the friends of that man, bring our friends to Jesus too, no matter what the cost or the difficulty involved. It is our calling to bring people to Jesus. And where Jesus finds real faith He is ready once again to forgive and heal. He is able to say to you and me and to our friends, Your sins are forgiven. Get up and walk! We warmly welcome all of our visitors! It s good to have you with us!

God Himself gave us the commandment to forgive our enemies, or anyone who has simply offended us in some way. The Gospel says: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespasses against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him (Luke 17:3-4). Even if we simply try to pray, while bearing a grudge against somebody, and start reading the Our Father, we will immediately condemn ourselves. For we ask God to forgive us in the same way that we forgive those who have offended us Nevertheless, any Christian would have to admit that forgiving and asking for forgiveness are exceedingly difficult things. Either language does not work, or one cannot find the right words Perhaps at such moments, we especially need the help of the saints the help of those who found the strength to forgive even their torturers and murderers. These people followed Christ until the end in different centuries, remembering His sacrifice and prayer for the people who crucified Him: Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do (Luke 23:34).

Six Little Stories Courtesy of Ned Derkach Coffee Break (1) Once all villagers decided to pray for rain, on the day of prayer all the people gathered, but only one boy came with an umbrella. That's FAITH (2) When you throw a baby in the air, she laughs because she knows you will catch her. That's TRUST (3) Every night we go to bed, without any assurance of being alive the next morning but still we set the alarms to wake up. That's HOPE (4) We plan big things for tomorrow in spite of zero knowledge of the future. That's CONFIDENCE ПРОСИМО МОЛИТВУ ЗА ЗДОРОВЯ - Please remember in your prayers those people of our parish who are in the hospitals, care homes and those who are shut-ins, as well as those who need our prayers. Remember, if you would like a hospital visit or to have your name published in the bulletin, you or a member of your family must call the parish office and let us know. (5) We see the world suffering, but still we get married and have children. That's LOVE (6) On an old man's shirt was written a sentence 'I am not 80 years old...i am sweet 16 with 64 years experience' That's ATTITUDE Try to live your life like the six stories! МНОГАЯ ЛІТА! July 8th Happy Anniversary to our Fr Eugene on his 64th Priestly Ordination

Our Venerable Father Athanasius of Athos - July 5, 2014 Athanasius was born in Trebizond of Godfearing parents. He became orphaned at an early age but, by the Providence of God, a commander took him under his care and brought him to Constantinople to be educated. Because of his meekness and humbleness, he was the favorite of his peers. During the children s games, the children chose one to be an emperor, one a commander and Athanasius as abbot as though it was some kind of foretelling! Having completed his education, Athanasius (who before tonsuring was called Abraham) withdrew into the desert of Maleinos near Athos, the Holy Mountain, where he lived the life of an ascetic as a disciple of the then renowned Michael Maleinos. Desiring a more difficult life of mortification, Athanasius settled on Holy Mt. Athos to live in silence (the life of a silentary). But many who were desirous of a life of asceticism began to gather around him and, therefore, he was compelled to build his famous Lavra [monastery]. In that, he was assisted by the Byzantine emperors: at first, Nicephorus Phocas, who himself thought to withdraw and to become a monk and, after him, John Tzimiskes. Countless temptations befell Athanasius both from demons and from men but he, as a brave soldier of Christ, resisted and conquered all by his immeasurable meekness and continual prayer to the Living God. Filled with the Grace of God, Athanasius was made worthy to see the All-holy Birthgiver of God who miraculously brought forth water from a rock and promised that she would also be the abbess [Ikonomisa, the one in charge of the provisions of the monastery]. In work and in prayer, Athanasius surpassed his brethren and loved all with the love a spiritual father and shepherd. Death came to Athanasius unexpectedly. At one time, he with six other monks, climbed upon a newly built vestibule of the church to inspect the wall which was being constructed and the wall caved in on them and buried them. Thus, this great beacon of monasticism died in the year 980 A.D. Many times following his death Athanasius appeared to his brethren either to comfort them or to reprimand them. (Prologue of Ohrid)

Ten Important Things To Do While On Vacation 1. Make every effort to improve your health: try to get enough sleep; go for walks in the fresh air as often as you can; put your daily regime in order. Having a bad time off and not restoring your strength can lead to difficulty in doing your work with proper concentration over the course of the year. 2. Expand your prayer rule by adding something that you do not normally have time to read: prayers, psalms, or a chapter from the Gospels. Or read your usual rule with greater attention and concentration. 3. Read at least one book about the faith: something by one of the Holy Fathers (for instance, St. John Chrysostom) or by a contemporary theologian. 4. Do not allow yourself to miss the Sunday Liturgy, justifying yourself by saying you are on vacation. 5. An information break is also essential. Put aside a few days of your vacation time that will be entirely free from the Internet, social networks, and frequent text messaging. Reduce the amount of time you spend reading the news or watching television. Hold out for as long as possible! 6. Communicate on a serious and deep level with members of your family wife, husband, parents without hurrying and without being distracted every five minutes by the telephone. Talk about life, joys, problems, and plans; rejoice in one another s company. 7. As our children grow up, we often stop teaching them anything new in the same way we did when they were little. Read aloud to them an interesting but serious work that will open up something new to them. Watch a good, meaningful film with them. Teach them to listen to silence or to understand the beauty of poetry. 8. Think of something that members of your household have been asking you to do for some time, but that you have kept putting off. Take the children to the zoo, repair something, or sew up something fulfill what was requested of you. 9. Complete an act of charity that you have long been putting off. 10. Visit your godparents, godchildren, or old family friends whom you have not seen for a long time.
