When this can be the most Joyous time of year for so many there are those that are facing this season for the first time without a loved one that shared the joy with them. Let us all keep all those hurting at this time in our prayers. Please accept my most Sincere and Heartfelt wishing of a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Look for our exclusive Christmas Rosary CD. When you look at the calendar on the next page you will see a pretty full schedule. We have some enjoyable times over the last month with the Altar Server Party and the Knights Connect Killing zombies. But the duties that help support all our year long philanthropies are on our on our forefront. The Cheerfest and Casino Nights. Both of these things bring us a good amount of income. They are both fun enjoyable times if you let it be. There are those of you that do either of these events and not the other. You all know who you are. Both events need your help and either one is a great event for a new member to help with. No one can say that is not for me. I guarantee there is something everyone can do. With 360 members we have over 175 that I consider to be willing to help. If you help a little bit, No one has to be burdened with a lot. Only when we all don t do the part we can do that the system fails. You all have not failed us yet, so this season where so much more is needed, so much more will be asked. Please answer the call! I guarantee you will be blessed ten times over for the work you do! Scholarships Thank You Essay Contest Directory 8 9 10 11 Best Wishes! Dan Jacobs Grand Knight

My Brother Knights, I hope this note finds you doing well. Yesterday Dec 3, we welcomed 4 more brothers into our order. Congratulations to those new members and to all of those that joined our Council this past year. Throughout 2017 so many things have happened that have made us stop and think. We have fallen onto our knees and prayed not only for our family, friends and local community but have gathered together and prayed for our Country, our leaders and for the World. Locally, we have dealt with acts of nature that have displaced thousands of families. Hurricanes Harvey and Maria wielded their destructive power here in Texas and in Puerto Rico. Earthquakes, tornados, wild fires have affected all of us in one form or another. And, though all of this what do we do? WE PRAY! We pray for those who are harmed in every natural disaster, every shooting or accident. We pray for their families, the medical personnel and all of those who are trying to help, those who want to make a difference. This is exactly what the Knights of Columbus do. We pray for those who are sick or have personal issues and for the deceased and their families. We want to make a difference and help in any way we can which leads to the Knight s primary principle of Charity. Our local council, St Philip the Apostle assists a number of organizations and every year the lists continues to grow. If feels good to see people go back to work, to visit with them in church and not the hospital. It feels good knowing that someone is out there helping others, praying for them and doing everything they can only because they have transportation. It feels good to see kids running around in the playground wearing a jacket when it s a bit chilly outside. When you walk around the mall shopping and see a young mother with her baby, smile and thank God that she has her baby. You see, the Knights are able to help because of people like you. It is you the members that say, hey, this pregnancy clinic needs a new sonogram machine. It is you the member that knows of someone that needs help in moving from one home to another but has no one to help them. There is always a cost of helping others. Sometimes it s just a monetary donation and the problem will go away for a short time. Other times it not just money but time, to build a ramp for someone in a wheel chair, or perhaps it takes a few hours to go and deliver 10 wheel chairs to an elderly living complex. Our council needs you, the members of 9884. We need you to above all pray. We need your ideas, your willingness to help and your skills or call them talents. Remember: Matthew 25:34-36 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me. 40 And the King will answer and say to them, Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me. My Brothers, Thank you for all you have done these last few months. PCBs, casinos, cheerfests, Loreto House, ABBA, Love thy Neighbor, coats for kids etc. All of these events go to help our brother man. Please continue to pray daily and I hope to see you at our next council meeting on Dec 7. Go to our website for an update of upcoming events and consider signing up to help. Thank you and may the spirit of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity be reflected in everything we do. DGK Louis Hernández Hernandez.louie@verizon.net 214-300-1931

KEEPING CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS This being the first week of Advent I thought it would be nice to share some things we can all do to Keep Christ in Christmas 1. Display a "Keep Christ in Christmas" magnet or decal on your vehicle. 2. Use postage stamps that feature a religious theme. 3. Hang an Advent Calendar in your home. 4. Display your nativity set in a window or on the lawn where others can see it. 5. Listen to traditional Christmas carols that honor Christ's birth. 6. Use religious Christmas wrapping paper & decorations. 7. Send out Christmas cards with a religious theme. 8. Always say "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays". 9. Read Christmas scriptures and share with your family. 10. Make gifts and donations to those in need. ``Remembering and promoting the reason for the season is what Knights Do! MINISTRY TO THE UNEMPLOYED The parish has a ministry to assist those seeking employment and anyone interested in helping or looking for employment is invited to a meeting on the second Monday of the Month at 7 PM in the church office conference room. Greetings Brother from the Fourth Degree Our Assembly Christmas Outing will be December 10th. We are attending the play My Three Angels at On Stage In Bedford. Dinner will follow at Danny s Celtic Pub near the play. I have a few tickets left if you want to go contact me (kjohann@verizon.net) Don t forget we will NOT have a meeting this month. We have our Christmas Outing in place of the meeting. We are allowing the Council to use the CLC for their Christmas party. The Fourth Degree Color Corps is providing Honor Guard at both the 4:00 PM mass and Midnight mass on December 24th for Christmas. We will need everyone who has Regalia to help. Let Boyd (burrispb1549@att.net) know if you are going to be there. Remember to pray for those on our prayer list, our departed brothers and their families. Fraternally Ken Johann Faithful Navigator
