May 27, 2018 MOST HOLY TRINITY THE RESPONSIBILITY OF OUR FAITH Today is a day simply to ponder the fact that in baptism we were claimed by God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The first reading from Deuteronomy prompts us to fix in our hearts the truth that God is the Lord of both heaven and earth and there is no other god. Saint Paul reminds us that, because we received the Spirit of adoption in baptism, we are now children of God. In the Gospel Jesus charges us with the responsibility to make other disciples. These realities make today's solemnity a day of praise, adoration, and responsibility. It is a fitting day to thank God for the absolutely free gift of faith that we were given in baptism. It is also a day to ask God for strength to take on the responsibility of sharing that faith with others. MAY - MONTH OF MARY The month of May is dedicated to Our Blessed Lady. During this month Christians, both in church and in the privacy of the home, offer up to Mary from their hearts an especially fervent and loving homage of prayer and veneration. In this month, too, the benefits of God's mercy come down to us from her throne in greater abundance (Pope Bl. Paul VI). During month of May we pray rosary before Sunday Masses. Join us. SANTA LUCIA PARISH SANTA LUCIA SCHOOL 2018/19 REGISTRATION REGISTRATION DAYS: JUNE 20 & JULY 11 We have big news to share Big Shoulders Fund has confirmed that Santa Lucia School will be open for the 2018/19 school year! We understand the worry that has come about through the Renew My Church (RMC) process, but we have been assured that the decision of the RMC process will not be announced until next school year has begun. Additionally, the decision will not begin to take effect until June of 2019 after the school-year has concluded. Not only has Big Shoulder Fund promised to stand by us one more year, but also, they are continuing to support our families with their scholarships. With this great news, we are quickly planning for a successful 2018/19 school year classroom set -up, curriculum structure, teachers/staffing, etc. To do so, we need your help! Please, let us know if you plan to return to Santa Lucia School in the fall. We are asking two things of you: Please, complete the intent to return form. If your family plans to return, please call the school office for registration forms. Secondly, please call/visit the school office, the parish office, or with your child s teacher if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we determine our classroom configurations for next year. We are committed to ensuring that it is a terrific year for our students with an array opportunities and academic programs. We are looking to partner with area schools for enrichment programming and other opportunities and we may be able to hire more teachers based on enrollment. We are currently offering teachers their contracts and at this time cannot say who will be teaching each grade level, but will share more as it is determined. If you have questions about the plan for next year, please feel free to contact me.
