All this would not have been possible without the skilled leadership of Michelle Ramirez and her team of volunteers. Her core team, councillors, and buddies were the principle reason the shortened week was such a strong success. A big thank you to each of them! R.E. Registration 2016-2017 Registration continues for the coming school year for Religious Education classes. If you have not already done so, simply download the registration forms from the parish website and bring them to the RE Office completed along with payment. f tewardship Queen of All Saints Basilica Committed to Christ, sharing God's gifts, building the Church together Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time-July 10, 2016 Our Parish Ministries of Outreach, Education and Liturgy All members of the Church are called to service as disciples of Christ. Charity begins at home, then to the community, the parish, at work and in the world. Queen of All Saints parish is proud to offer over 40 different ministries to our parishioners and our community. Check our list of parish ministries at qasparish.org to see if there is a need you can help us fill. Our ability to address needs within our parish and beyond is truly a testament to the stewardship shown by our parishioners, a grateful return of the gifts they have been given in the service of others. Jesus said to him, Go and do likewise.. - Luke 10:37 This was Jesus command at the end of the Good Samaritan story. But did you know that the Samaritans and Jews despised each other? The moral of the story is to love our neighbor, who may be someone you don t know, someone that looks different than you or someone you don t like, without expecting anything in return. Our Weekly Stewardship for June 26, 2016 Actual to Prior Yr YTD Actual to Budget YTD Week $23,865 $1,370,195 Last Year $24,871 $1,372,947 Difference ($1,006) ($2,752) Week $23,865 $1,370,195 Weekly Budget $27,675 $1,411,425 Difference ($3,810) ($41,230) WHY GO TO MASS EVERY SUNDAY? REASON 33 Even people who do not believe in God have recognized the Bible as the most important book ever published. It s hard to read a newspaper article without happening on a phrase or two that references something from the Bible. So much of the literature of the Bible has worked its way into common phrases that themselves have become the idioms of contemporary written and spoken English. Think of phrases like an eye for an eye, handwriting on the wall, sign of the times or go the extra mile. These and many others find their origin in Sacred Scripture. How will we be able to recognize these references as biblical in origin if we are not familiar with the source from which they come? At every Sunday Mass three readings from the Bible are proclaimed during the Liturgy of the Word: one from the Old Testament, one from the New Testament and one from the Gospels. By going to Mass every Sunday we gain a crucial part of the foundation from which we are then able to read books, newspapers, magazines and journals with sharper intelligence and deeper understanding. If you are a registered parishioner, please come into the rectory during business hours to schedule your child's baptism. If it is not possible for you to come into the rectory, please call the rectory to make arrangements. The Sacrament of Baptism for infants is celebrated two or three Sundays of the month, depending on the time of year, at 1:30 PM - call the rectory for the exact schedule. A Baptismal Preparation class for the parents is required. They are held once a month and must also be scheduled in advance. If an adult or a school age child seeks baptism, special arrangements should be made with one of the priests. The Sacrament of Matrimony Queen of All Saints helps couples prepare not only for their wedding day, but the lifelong commitment of living a Christian marriage. Parishioners of Queen of All Saints Basilica who are baptized and free to marry in the Catholic Church may celebrate their marriage in Queen of All Saints Basilica. Couples from Queen of All Saints seeking marriage in Queen of All Saints Basilica should contact one of the parish priests at least six months prior to their intended date of marriage. The couple must meet with one of the priests before the date for the marriage can be confirmed. Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick The sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is not a sacrament for those who are at the point of death. As soon as one of the faithful begins to be in danger of death from sickness or old age, the fitting time for him/her to receive this sacrament has certainly already arrived. Therefore, any member of the faithful who is seriously ill because of sickness or advanced age, may properly receive this sacrament. Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time July 10, 2016 9
