Bullington (1801 1870) & Sarah Jane Mahoney (1802 1870). Alexander Kinnaird, s/o Mariah Kinnaird. Raised by Montgomery Kinnaird & Sarah Rhea. *See Pleas Kinnaird buried in Bullington Cemetery. Alexander was born 1 January 1838. He was the son of Mariah Kinnaird. His father is unknown; family history relates that Alexander was fathered by an Indian, and the names Julian and Buckhannon are possibilities, but to my knowledge, we have never found anything to substantiate it. Of course, it would have been covered up, so we will probably never know. Alexander was raised by Mariah's parents, Montgomery and Sarah/Sally Kinnaird and Mariah later went on to marry Eli Bean and have other children. Alexander died in Tennessee on 5 July 1905. He was buried in the Bullington Cemetery, Putnam County, TN. Alexander served in the CSA in the 8th Tennessee Cavalry (also known as the 13th cavalry, under Colonel George Dibrell. According to Alexander's pension application he enlisted in the fall of 1862. He indicated in that document that following the Missionary Ridge battle, on or about 25 Nov. 1863 he was out on a courier line just after being relieved he was captured, and ultimately sent to Rock Island Prison, Illinois. While there he contracted small pox. He was released from Rock Island in June, 1865.
