Pastor s Page? Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Praise God from whom all blessings flow. We have been blessed beyond our best words. We have been given the opportunity to see 2019, a new year as provided by God Almighty. We are the people of His plans for this year. Others obviously were not part of His plans. They did not survive, taken away from life before now. What shall we do with the time God has given us? Let us follow what we call The Summary Of The Decalogue. This year Love the Lord your God, and love your neighbor as much as you love yourself. The love of God and the love of our neighbor is obedience to the Lord s instructions. Let love rise and shine in our hearts throughout 2019. By the way, thank you for the many well-wishes, greetings, and gifts of love you gave me during the holiday season. I am well blessed, and so are you. Happy New Year! This Day In Church History... January 6, 1850 The Reverend Charles Spurgeon, regarded as one of the premier Christian preachers of history was saved on this date. At the age of 15 on Sunday morning he tried to get to his own church in Essex, England, but couldn t get there because of a snow storm. He entered a small Methodist Church just to get out of the storm. There were only a few people gathered there for worship. The preacher was filling in for the pastor, who did not make it to the service. Surgeon said it was at that humble service that he received Jesus Christ as his savior. He was later called to preach, and was used of the Lord to reach thousands of souls in need of salvation. The history of the church is full of blessings achieved by people worshiping in small churches. Bethel, keep the doors open. Continue to be a blessing in 2019. Did You Know...? Today is the first Sunday in January. It is also the first Sunday in 2019. It is also the first Sunday in the Christian season of Epiphany. The word means an appearance of a deity. The season will continue until Ash Wednesday. It is a celebration of Christ s presentation to gentiles (non-jews), the Magi, kings of the east. This is recorded in The Gospel Of Matthew, chapter 2, verses 1 to 12. On The Lighter Side of Church The preacher was delivering his sermon on Sunday morning. He noticed that the people were not paying attention. Wondering if there was a problem with the P.A. system, he asked, Can you hear me in the back? A reply came back No. Whereupon, the people in the front pews got up and moved to the back. Do you know a joke you can submit? Please give a copy to Pastor Davis.

Austin Barry The General Confession Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, maker of all things, judge of all men, we acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness which we have from time to time most grievously have committed by thought, word and deed against Thy Divine Majesty, provoking most justly thy wrath and indignation against us. We do earnestly repent and are heartily sorry for these our misdoings; the remembrance of them is grievous unto us. Have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us, most merciful Father for your Son our Lord Jesus Christ s sake; forgive us all that is past, and grant that we may ever hereafter serve and please thee in newness of life, to the honor and glory of thy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
