Knights of Columbus Immaculate Heart Of Mary Council 17083 I.H.M. Tidings Grand Knight s Message As the first half of the Fraternal Year and Advent is upon us, I am truly thankful for all of the blessings our dear Lord has bestowed upon our new council. We have already celebrated families with our first Family Gathering and Rosary, assisted with the Community BBQ and Harvest Fest, along with hosting the Silver Rose in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the sanctity of all human life. We now have our council Program Directors chosen for the year. Thanks to our brothers who accepted those positions for the council to help strengthen our programs. The Supreme Council s Faith in Action initiative is something we as a council are working towards. We can now develop programs to more fully evangelize and integrate our own families in parish life through the giving of time, talents, and treasures (as family). Let us continue, especially during Advent and Christmas, to support and enhance the various ministries of our parish and ask the Holy Spirit for us to serve others according to His will and His glory and not our own. I pray for a blessed Advent and Christmas to all. Prayer for Life O Mary, bright dawn of the new world, Mother of the living, to you do we entrust the cause of life: Look down, O Mother, upon the vast numbers of babies not allowed to be born, of the poor whose lives are made difficult, of men and women who are victims of brutal violence, of the elderly and the sick killed by indifference or out of misguided mercy. Grant that all who believe in your Son may proclaim the Gospel of life with our time. Obtain for them the grace to accept that Gospel as a gift ever new, the joy of their lives and the courage to bear witness with all people of good will, the civilization of truth and love, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life. Amen An Advent Prayer Come, long expected Jesus. Excite in me a wonder at the wisdom and power of Your Father and ours. Receive my prayer as part of my service of the Lord who enlists me in God s own work for justice. Come, long expected Jesus. Excite in me a joy responsive to the Father s joy. I seek His will so I can serve with gladness, singing and love. Come, Long expected Jesus. Excite in me the joy and love and peace it is right to bring to the manger of my Lord. Raise in me, to, sober reverence for the God who acted there, hearty gratitude for the life begun thee, and spirited resolution to serve the Father and the Son. PRAY FOR LIFE I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, whose advent I hail. We must remember that life begins at home, and we must also remember that the future of humanity passes through the family. ~ Saint Teresa of Calcutta
