Our expectation is that 70% or $7,100 will come from the weekly offertory. Parishioners contributed $6,514 for the week ending May 28th. This Week s 2nd Collection Seminarians This week s 2nd collection supports the formation and training of seminarians in the Archdiocese of Boston for service, we pray, as future priests. We are blessed that many are responding to the call to serve as priests. Please be generous and support these seminarians on their journey toward their ordination to the priesthood. Grand Annual Campaign Goal Shortfall Last year s Grand Annual campaign was successful in raising $10,000 more than the previous year. Thank you for your generosity!! We have used these additional funds to repair the rectory front stairs, cut down dangerous tree limbs, remove the asbestos flooring in O Connell Hall and to make unexpected repairs to the organ for the Easter Season. However, our goal was $119,000, of which $89,000 was raised; $30,000 less than the target. This shortfall was intended to fund the much overdue painting of the church and to seal and repair deep cracks in the parking lot. But in addition to these two projects, we must immediately address the church furnace, which broke down and requires a major overhaul, as well as much needed repairs we have identified in the rectory s offices and living quarters, including falling tiles, water stains, cracked walls, etc. The Parish Finance Council has determined that we need to raise $50,000 to cover the costs of the above four projects: the $30,000 Grand Annual shortfall for the Church painting and parking lot, plus an additional $20,000 for the furnace and rectory repairs. Please prayerfully consider giving what you can to help with these specific projects. If you have any questions, please contact Lynn Jacobs in the Rectory office. Thank you!! June 4, 2017

Today is the Feast of Pentecost when the Church celebrates the gift of the Holy Spirit. At the first Pentecost each of the disciples from many nations heard the Holy Spirit speak to them in their own tongue. To commemorate that event we invite the parish community to pray the Our Father in your own native language or a second language that you speak so we may experience the wonder of diversity among us. Will the generous table donator please stand up?! Several months ago, someone donated six narrow, rectangular tables to OLOS, leaving them in O Connell Hall. We d like to know who you are! If you gave these tables to us (or know who did!) please call or email Lynn Jacobs (ljacobs@olossharon.org). Thank you! What s Happening at OLOS Car Wash on June 11th The summer time is hot, humid, rainy, muddy and dirty. Wouldn t it be nice to pay someone else to do your dirty work for you this summer? Well, you re in luck... to benefit the Summer Mission Trips, OLOS youth and families will be having a car wash on Sunday, June 11th (rain date June 18th) from 7:30-12:00 p.m. Bring your car before or after the Sunday masses, or have it washed during Mass. For a donation you can have your car exterior looking brand new! So, don t waste your energy washing your own car these next two weeks, and if your car is clean - get it dirty so we can clean it for you! A Conversation with James Martin, SJ on LGBT Catholics On Monday, June 19, 2017, 7:30 p.m. Saint Cecilia Church (18 Belvidere Street, Boston, MA) Saint Cecilia Parish is pleased to present an evening with James Martin, SJ who will discuss his latest book, Building a Bridge: How the Catholic Church and the LGBT Community Can Enter into a Relationship of Respect, Compassion, and Sensitivity. Bullock Run, Walk, Shuffle Father Robert Bullock was the Pastor at Our Lady of Sorrows for 26 years, until he passed away in 2004. He was an avid runner, and since 2005 the Fr. This year s event, the 13 th, will take place on Sunday, June 11, 2017. With a kids race, a 2 mile walk and a 5 km run, there is something for every fitness level.
