SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER (QUASIMODO GENITI) Ezekiel 37:1 14 1 John 5:4 10 John 20:19 31 The name of this Sunday is Quasimodo Geniti Infantes, the first words of the Introit, and means: Like newborn infants. The Wounds of Christ Give Us Life For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood (1 John 5:7). These three point to Christ and flow from Christ. Jesus shows His disciples His hands side, from which blood and water flowed, saying Peace be with you. He presents the wounds which turn our fear to gladness and which restore us to the Father. Jesus breathes on His disciples and says, Receive the Holy Spirit (John 20:23). His breath, His words are Spirit and life. They raise up our dry, dead bones and give us new and everlasting life (Ezek. 37:1 14). Christ now gives His ministers to speak His forgiving, Spirit-filled words to the penitent in His stead. Our Lord continues to come to His people, presenting His wounds to us in the Sacraments of water and blood. He bids us to touch His side at His table, to receive His risen body and blood in true faith, that believing we may have life in His name. Page 1

Mission Corner Rev. Mark and Stefanie Rabe serve the Lord as career missionaries through The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) in Ethiopia. Mark teaches at Mekane Yesus Seminary in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This seminary is dedicated to training faithful Lutheran pastors and other church workers to serve in Ethiopia. Pray for Mark, Stefanie and their children as they serve in Ethiopia. Ask God to be with Stefanie and the children as she homeschools them. Pray for the church in Ethiopia and for the faculty, staff and students at Mekane Yesus Seminary. Ask God to give Mark His wisdom and guidance as he teaches these students and helps them prepare to become faithful Lutheran pastors, lay evangelists and other professional church workers. Local News & Events BREAKING FREE INC. Breaking Free is starting a new diversion program where individuals will be sent to us to be transported to immediate detox. They will be in need of basic clothing, such as (unused) men's and women's t-shirts, lounge pants, boxers/underwear, and socks. There are boxes at the front and back of the church where you can put donations. If you would like to donate money or a gift card from Walmart, please put it in Pastor Graham's mailbox.
