ST. HELEN CHURCH RIVERSIDE, OHIO JANUARY 25, 2015 READINGS FOR FEBRUARY 1 Deuteronomy 18:15-20 1 Corinthians 7:32-35 Mark 4:16 With heartfelt thanks for your STEWARDSHIP OF TREASURE JANUARY 18 Adults $21,856.67 Children $0 WE REMEMBER OUR DECEASED In your prayers please remember Eugene Solimine who died and whose funeral was Saturday, January 24th. Please also remember Gene s family, friends, and all who mourn his death. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. COLLECT FOR THE THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Almighty ever-living God, direct our actions according to your pleasure, that in the name of your beloved Son we may abound in good works. The Collect begins with God s initiative and good pleasure in sending us his Son. It ends at the response to which we are called: to abound in good works. We followers of Jesus call that discipleship. A now-famous prayer by Bishop Ken Untener of the Diocese of Saginaw says, We are workers, not master builders; ministers, not messiahs. We can t do everything, but we use the gifts we have to transform our world as we have first been transformed by Christ. When we walk with Christ through lives of humble service, these short days and long nights in the Northern Hemisphere shine with the Light of Christ. Excerpt from The Roman Missal, Third Edition 2010, ICEL. http://www.fdlc.org/liturgy_resources/mystagogy/documents/ collects/collect15_ordinary03.pdf Imagine the magnetism of Jesus... whatever it is about him that makes people drop what they are doing an follow him! COMMITMENT WEEKEND IS NEXT WEEKEND Remember that the six ministries included in this program depend on our contributions for their operating expenses. Good and holy work is done in your name for the poor, the elderly, the refugee, families in crisis, those in hospitals and prisons, those seeking the Lord on college campuses, St. Rita School for the Deaf, our seminaries, our retired priests, and our New Evangelization office. Our parish goal this year is once again $45,528. A one-time gift in any amount... an ongoing monthly gift... your dedicated prayer... Whatever you can sacrifice will help the good work of these ministries. We ask that you bring the commitment card you received in the mail and put it in the regular collection offering next weekend. If you prefer to make your donation on line at www.catholicappeal.info/ make-a-pledge.html, you can indicate that you have done so on your card.
