July 1 st marked the beginning of a new chapter in the life of Fayette UMC. My wife, Suzanne and I are excited about serving the church and the community as we make our home here. We have made good progress in unpacking the essentials and are looking forward to getting settled in these first couple of weeks of July. From the time we arrived we have felt welcome and we appreciate all the sincere greetings and offers of hospitality. Thank you! As brothers and sisters in Christ this attitude of hospitality and concern for one another and for those around us is to be a defining characteristic of who we are as the church. I would like to encourage all of us to be praying for how we can extend our hospitality beyond our current comfort zones. God calls for the church to be seeking peace and justice in our community by sharing the love of Christ with everyone we encounter. Remember Paul s encouragement to the Colossians, Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him (Col 3:15-17, NIV). In our thankfulness for what Christ has done in our lives we are to make ourselves available to our brothers and sisters in Christ and our neighbors, sharing the grace and love that Jesus Christ freely offers to all people. We look forward to the days ahead as we walk together in the power of the Holy Spirit as partners in mission and ministry in Fayette and beyond. Grace and Peace, Pastor Jeff In our Thoughts and Prayers Let Pastor Jeff know if you have anyone to add to this prayer list. The group successfully completed their work, which consisted of re-roofing a home, roofing and siding a shed, work on the gutters, and work on the floors inside the home. It was a great week of work and all 13 of our youth worked extremely hard to get the job done. None of this would have been possible without the generous sponsorships that our youth received and the support of our congregation! Thank you!
