March 3, 2019 Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time Page Two Liturgical seasons are intended to highlight significant aspects of the Christian journey to God. The Lenten season, a time of preparation for the Easter Triduum and the entire fifty days of the Easter season, challenges Christians to explore at least three important aspects of the Christian faith journey. The most important Lenten emphasis challenges Christians to delve deeper in their understanding of and reflection on the mystery of Christ s passion, death and resurrection. The season also focuses on the immediate preparation and eventual initiation of those preparing to take on the mind and heart of Jesus through baptism, confirmation and Eucharist. The Lenten season also challenges those already baptized to renew their baptismal commitment by entering into a period of spiritual discipline to be more deeply converted to Jesus lifestyle and values. This Lent, pay attention to all three aspects as you prepare for Easter.
