Heritage Week at St. Peter s St. Peter s has been invited to participate in Heritage Week (February 15-19) and we have decided to focus on All Souls Chapel. The theme for the week is Exploring Built Heritage. Peggy Williams will be leading a presentation each day at 2:00 p.m. focusing on the chapel as a unique collaboration of Architecture and Art by the famous Harris brothers. The Chapel was designed by William Critchlow Harris and was declared a National Historic site by Parks Canada in 1990 due to its High Victorian Gothic Architecture. The inside features 15 murals painted by his brother Robert, a renowned Canadian artist. A truly unique example of the brothers combined talents. This is an excellent opportunity for parishioners to hear more about the unique aspects of All Souls Chapel. We invite you to join us for one of Peggy s presentations. Pre-Lent Today is the third Sunday of the three Sundays of the Season of the Church Year called Pre-Lent. This is the season of the "Gesimas", that is, Septuagesima, Sexagesima and Quinquagesima, the Sundays that are respectively seventy, sixty and fifty days before Easter (approximately). In this season, there is a sort of sea change as we begin to turn our thoughts away from the joyous celebrations of the Christmas and Epiphany Seasons, with their focus on the birth and manifestation of Christ, and toward the penitential season of Lent, with its focus on our Lord s suffering and death. Throughout pre-lent and Lent, the singing or saying of Alleluia is omitted during our church services. In Pre-Lent, the colour of the liturgical vestments and altar frontal changes from green to purple, giving us a visual cue that it is time to begin to prepare ourselves for Lent, the season of penitence and self-examination, but also the season of hope, as we look forward to the resurrection of Christ at Easter. PEI Right to Life Association Hiring for Youth Ambassador Team Attention all high school and young adult pro-lifers looking for an opportunity to make a difference! The PEI Right to Life Association is hiring four passionate individuals for our Youth Ambassador Team. This team will be trained to give presentations to parishes, youth groups, etc. on abortion facts and laws, compassionately communicating the pro-life position, and how youth can be involved in standing up for the most vulnerable of our society; the pre-born. If interested, please contact the Executive Director Nicole Dupuis by emailing nicole.dupuis@live.ca for further information. Please take bulletins home! The Rector wishes to remind parishioners who attend either the 8:00am or 10:30am service on Sunday mornings - Please take a copy of the Sunday Bulletin home with you. We do not expect you to read it all during the service, as this might distract you for your worship and prayers. On some Sundays there is a great deal of information in the bulletin, including fairly lengthy inserts on various subjects. Please get into the habit of taking the bulletin home with you, and reading it at home. Post it up somewhere as a reminder of the activities, meetings, and services that are taking place in our parish during the week. SEE NEXT PAGE FOR INFORMATION ABOUT PANCAKE SUPPER
