Dear friends- A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR I hope that you had a wonderful Easter. I want to thank, once again, all those who shared their time and talents with us to make our celebrations of Holy Week and Easter so meaningful. We are truly blessed at this parish to have so many gifted individuals, and due to their hard work we were able to draw closer to the Lord and grow in our faith during these holy days. I must admit to a bit of nostalgia as I celebrated Holy Week and Easter for the last time here at our parish (unless, of course, I m a complete disaster at St. Jude s and St. Edward s and I m sent back here). It has been a wonderful 14 ½ years here for me and I m grateful to all of you who have made my time here such a joy. I am looking forward to celebrating First Communions and Confirmation with you in May those two celebrations are always highlights of my year. There are a lot of questions about who will take my place after June 3. Although I have not as yet received any official word, the rumor is that Fr. John O Brien will be assigned to St. Timothy s to be the administrator until we are put into a collaborative with St. Catherine parish. Fr. O Brien has been the pastor of Sacred Heart parish in Quincy and since his parish has been put into a collaborative with two other Quincy parishes, he will be available to serve as an administrator. He was a few years ahead of me in the seminary and I know him fairly well. I think he will be a fine administrator until a permanent pastor is named. I m not sure of when that will take place. Fr. O Brien has scheduled a sabbatical a time of study and renewal so he will not begin at St. Timothy s until December. So for the next six months another priest will be assigned on an interim basis until Fr. O Brien returns here. I realize that all these moves involve a great deal of change and change is not all that easy. But I take comfort in the wonderful people who make up this parish and the great staff who will assist the incoming priests. We have such a great parish and I hope and pray that amid all these changes we can continue to keep our wonderful parish spirit alive and continue to do the work of Jesus in our community. I want to wish all of you and your families and friends the peace and joy of this Easter season. Fr. Culloty FAREWELL CELEBRATION NEWS Our farewell celebration for Fr. Culloty will be held on Saturday, May 31st, beginning with the 4:30 Mass and followed by an outdoor reception. If parishioners are interested in contributing to a parish gift in honor of Fr. Culloty, Father has indicated he would be most appreciative of a monetary gift to Mission Grammar School in Roxbury, a school serving approximately 250 inner city students with tremendous need for financial support to provide tuition assistance and maintain its facilities. Anyone wishing to donate can drop a check in the collection basket or send a check to the parish office, using a special envelope available at the back of the Church. Please make the check payable to St. Timothy Parish and write on the memo line Mission Grammar. If you can volunteer some time to help with set up, clean up, decorating, etc. please call Janet in the main office or e-mail her at sttim@sttim.net. If you would like to contribute a photo of Father with you or your family during the past 14 years, please submit a 4x6 print to the main office. Photos will be used in the decorating scheme for the party. Thank you for your generosity and your help!
