May 18, 2014 Wild Goose Chase 3. God will challenge your. Cage of Assumptions Sometime later, the LORD spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him, Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great. 2 But Abram replied, O Sovereign LORD, what good are all your blessings when I don t even have a son? Since you ve given me no children, Eliezer of Damascus, a servant in my household, will inherit all my wealth. 3 You have given me no descendants of my own, so one of my servants will be my heir. 4 Then the LORD said to him, No, your servant will not be your heir, for you will have a son of your own who will be your heir. 5 Then the LORD took Abram outside and said to him, Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That s how many descendants you will have! 6 And Abram believed the LORD, and the LORD counted him as righteous because of his faith. Genesis 15:1-6 (NLT) Abraham and Sarah were both very old by this time, and Sarah was long past the age of having children. 12 So she laughed silently to herself and said, How could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master my husband is also so old? 13 Then the LORD said to Abraham, Why did Sarah laugh? Why did she say, Can an old woman like me have a baby? 14 Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son. Genesis 18:11 14 (NLT) Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20 21 (NLT) Assumptions cage us, Faith frees us! Assumptions cage us, Faith frees us! 1. God has no ceiling or. My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, says the LORD. And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. 9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8 9 (NLT) 2. Faith is not logical or illogical, but. Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.
