The Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time Saturday and Sunday February 11-12, 2017 www.stjudecatholic.org Jesus said to his disciples,...let your yes mean yes and your no mean no. (From Today s Gospel, Mtatthew 5:17-37) Dear Friends: Looking back on last weekend, I want to say again how much I enjoyed our annual parish celebration of World Marriage Day. Our congratulations go out to all those celebrating special anniversaries. With us during the Vigil Mass were couples celebrating anywhere from 10 years to 65 years of marriage. Thank you for your witness. Please be assured of our continued prayers. Also present with us for each Mass were the members of our parish St. Vincent DePaul Society. Reginald Brown spoke to us about the history and efforts of our society and thanked our community for our constant support. Allow me to echo that and thank you for the offerings that you made during our souper bowl Sunday collection! I do not have the total amount collected yet but will let you know in next week s column. Thank you again for your generosity. Just as a reminder, believe it or not, Lent is less than a month away. Ash Wednesday this year will fall on March 1st. I encourage all of us to perhaps start thinking about some of our personal goals for this holy season. I was on the road this past week facilitating deanery presentations of the Task Force Report and Recommendations, at St. Francis of Assisi in Donaldsonville and St. John the Baptist in Brusly. This coming week I will be at St. Margaret in Albany. Next week we finish up at Our Lady of Mercy and St. Joseph Cathedral. Have a great week! Sincerely, Fr. Trey Nelson Pastor
