ALTD News November 2010 www.rockfordaltd.webs.com Post-Weekend Chair The October 22 Secuela was held at First Presbyterian Church in Janesville, WI. We had an intimate group of just under 30 people present with three new pescadores in attendance! Although we were a small group, we were mighty in our worship time led by Steve Weber. Randy & Lynette Rasmussen shared a great message about Action and we had some excellent discussion and prayer time in small groups. Special thanks to Ryan Bensheimer and Al Lisk for serving communion and also to Pastor Bruce and Krista Jones for being gracious hosts. Upcoming Events November 11-14: Men s Weekend #23 Thursday, November 11: Send-off 7:30 pm (arrive at 7:00 pm) Sunday, November 14: Clausura 4:30 pm-inspiration Center Mark Your Calendar! Next ALTD Gathering: an ALTD Christmas Celebration! Friday, December 3, 2010 @ 6:00 p.m. Westminster Presbyterian Church 2821 N. Bell School Road, Rockford Have your family kick-off your Christmas celebrations with your ALTD family! We will gather with a time of fellowship and nourishment as we share in a Christmas feast starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Activity Center. Ham will be provided by the Westminster Presbyterian team (donations are welcome). Please bring a complimentary side dish and/or dessert to pass. Beverages will be provided by ALTD. This is a family event, so you are welcome and encouraged to bring your children. We will move into the sanctuary at 7:15 where we will have special Christmas music, communion, and an additional surprise or two during the evening that you (or the kids) won t want to miss! Nursery will be available during the service portion of our evening for children under the age of 5. Older children will be able to grab an activity bag or color sheets for during the service. Secuelas Secretariat will be setting dates on Saturday, November 27. So, 2011 Secuela dates are coming soon! We encourage the community to make a point of putting these dates on your family calendar once they get sent out. Secuelas are a great way to stay connected to your ALTD family! God truly showed his glory. For the new Pilgrim s, as you start your 4 th day, I would encourage you to remember that it is through us, disciples of Christ, that God continues to spread the good news. I pray that you feel called to serve in God s Kingdom. For we are all a part of the body of Christ each with gifts and talents to use not because we have to, but because we want to. And as you think and pray how you can serve, please know that God has a place for you. It s always our prayer that you would serve in your church, in your home and in your community as a light in this world. Some people are called for large endeavors and some are called for small endeavors both are of equal importance and both glorify God for it is your service from your heart s desire, faithfulness, obedience and love that God truly desires. And now for my personal pitch. As the Weekend Chair, I am responsible for coordinating all the supplies used for each weekend. It s a great job for inventory minded, warehouse management, purchasing type people (ok I m a manufacturing guy by trade so it sort of comes with the territory). But it s a great act of service to be part of every weekend behind the scenes as well as participating in a leadership role on the Secretariat board that serves the community. My term is coming to end. Spring 2011 will be my last as Weekend Chair as it will be time for me to step down and for a new Weekend Chair to become involved. I am praying that God will bring forth a new person for this position. And I ask that you pray how God can use your gifts and talents. Reunion Chair Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching. - Hebrews 10:25 What is a Reunion Group you ask? It is a small group of friends who meet regularly to encourage each other to continue their Christian growth by sharing their experiences of Piety, Study and Action. Below is a list of Reunion Groups that are presently meeting. A copy of this listing will be provided to the new Pescadores as they will be encouraged to join in a Reunion Group. If you have ever sponsored a candidate, one of your responsibilities is to connect your candidate to a Reunion Group. Why not invite them to join you at yours; if the time doesn t work for them, help them find one that does. Or better yet, why not start one yourself and encourage those not yet in a group to join you. If you are not presently in a group, consider joining one or connect with others who are not and start one of your own. If you need help, we would be happy to guide you.
