With a sword in one hand she battled the enemies of death and disease, and with her other hand stretched toward heaven she kept beseeching God s help and His mercy." - Bishop T.D. Jakes

THANK YOU! A big thank-you to all who donated and participated in the laundry ministry last Saturday. Check out the pictures in the gathering area. The next one will be in December. Thanks for your support! CHURCH INSIDE YARD SALE This Friday and Saturday, August 3 and 4 is our yard sale. You can bring your items for sale any time now. We appreciate your donations and help in making this a successful fundraiser for our next mission trip. And don t forget the bake sale! People love homemade goodies to take home with them. Come! Join the fun and fellowship. We can use some help setting up, the day of the sale, and cleanup. Come when you can and leave when you must. Thanks! If you are a follower of Jesus and attending Elim, why not consider membership? We will host a membership class on Sunday, August 5 beginning at noon with a light lunch. The class will last around two hours. It is a great way to find out more about our church and more about what it means to be a member. THE VELASCOS ARE COMING, THE VELASCOS ARE COMING!! It s been awhile since we ve seen our good friends and missionaries, Alex and Amanda and their three sons, Santiago, Oliver, and Sebastian. They will be visiting us on Sunday, August 19. It will be wonderful to see them again!

The next 13-week GriefShare sessions will begin Sunday, August 19. Whether your loss is fresh or has been awhile, GriefShare addresses all aspects of grief. The only cost to you is for your workbook. If you already have one, there s no charge. Be sure to let others know who might benefit from this ministry. It has been such a blessing to be a part of it and see healing take place. There is a sign-up sheet on the gathering area table, along with brochures telling more about it. Feel free to take one and pass it on. Also, in August GriefShare is coming out with Loss of a Spouse. We have preordered it and will be offering it in the near future. It is a one two-hour session devoted specifically for those who have suffered the loss a spouse. We will keep you posted. Christian Care is in continual need of donations. Besides their regular needs, they are needing several key items: men s deodorant, laundry detergent, towels/washcloths, paper towels, 13-gallon trash bags, 33-gallon trash bags, and gallon-size ziploc bags. We collect donations here and will be glad to deliver them for you. Thanks! Operation Christmas Child Don t forget to pick up your shoeboxes. Choose a boy or girl, ages 2-4, 5-9 or 10-14. Suggestions and a sample box are in the gathering area. We urge parents to get their kids involved in selecting items. PLEASE include a WOW item, such as a doll or stuffed animal or a deflated soccer ball and air pump. When packing put the WOW item on top, so the child sees it first when opening the box. Samaritan s Purse requests new and quality items look for good sales. Many packaging materials will need to be removed to make toys fit. (Keep packaging for toothbrushes.) If you cannot fill a box but would like to donate some $$, see Pat Hudson, who will pool any funds and fill boxes.
