Special Collection Next Weekend Next weekend, our parish will take up the annual collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. Over 46 million people in the United States live in poverty. This collection supports programs to empower people to identify and address the obstacles they face as they work to lift themselves out of poverty. By supporting this collection, you give people a hand up, not a handout. For your convenience there is a special envelope for this collection in your regular packet. Learn more about the CCHD at: www.usccb.org/cchd/collection Toy Drive The Knights of Columbus will again sponsor a Christmas Toy Drive in care of the Agape Shop. Please bring new or gently used toys and drop them in the boxes provided in the narthex during the month of November. The toys will be delivered to the Agape Shop on December 1, and will be available to their customers shortly thereafter. Christmas Cards The Knights of Columbus will be selling Christmas cards in the narthex after each Mass. From the Pastor! Dear Friends, Greetings in the Lord! My thanks to all who worked on the Trunk or Treat... It was cold, but very successful! I think that everyone had a great time. The Fall Festival committee, workers, participants and those who donated to and supported this event in any way, are all to be thanked! To make an event of this magnitude a success takes a lot of people giving a lot of time and we have been truly blessed in this area!! We will have a financial report as soon as possible. Our deep appreciation to one and all!! Something to think about: 11 days to Thanksgiving 12 days to Black Friday (be kind) 21 days to First Sunday of Advent 26 days to Solemnity of Immaculate Conception 43 days to Christmas... God bless, Fr. Chandler Calling All Engaged Couples Submissions for your free wedding announcement are being accepted for the January 11, 2018, Bridal Issue in THE RECORD. There will be complimentary books and CDs from Dynamic Catholic available in the narthex after the 10:00 a.m. Mass the weekend of November 19. All are invited to stop by and take one to enrich your Catholic faith. Be bold! Be a Dynamic Catholic!! Wisdom We consider wisdom today. The first reading from the book of Wisdom presents this precious gift as a feminine spirit, a very desirable virtue sought by many and graciously present to all who seek her. In today's Gospel, Jesus tells a parable to illustrate wisdom in a practical, measurable way. The wise will conserve their resources, use them prudently, and mark the passing of time. The foolish, on the other hand, not planning ahead, will be in the dark. Both of these readings tell us how accessible wisdom is to all who simply and honestly seek it. Paul's words to the Thessalonians are not about wisdom, but describe one result of true wisdom: To the wise person of faith even death holds no terror. Our faith in Jesus' resurrection tells us we will all one day rise to new life in Christ. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. The Best of Ireland... With Father Anthony Chandler!
