BISHOP'S DAY ON THE SALISBURY DISTRICT For Clergy and Laity Each year, Bishop Peggy Johnson visits each district for a day to bring us words of encouragement and to hear all the wonderful things going on in each district. This year, Bishop Johnson will be with us on Monday, September 21st, at Antioch UMC in Princess Anne, Maryland. The day on the district will start with lunch with the clergy of the district. (We are asking that you bring $7 to give to the church to cover the expense of the luncheon). This will be followed by a brief presentation by the bishop, then question and answer time. That evening, beginning at 6:30 pm with light refreshments, the bishop will meet with the laity of the district to do the same thing. Led by our District Lay Leader, Richard Kellam, some of our district youth will provide devotions and/or worship to begin our time together. Then the bishop will do a presentation and again, do questions and answers with the laity. So please plan to join us either for lunch at noon (clergy) or that evening (laity) for light refreshments and conversation with our bishop. Installation Services for New District Superintendents Rev. Dr. Shirlyn Henry Brown, Easton District The Worship Service for the installation of Rev. Dr. Brown will beheld on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 4:00 pm at St. Mark s UMC, Easton, MD. There will be a Meet & Greet beginning at 2:30 pm in St. Mark s Fellowship Hall. In addition, clergy will robe (with red stoles) for the processional at 3:45 pm in the church narthex. Rev. Dr. Kyung Hee Sa, Dover District The installation service for Rev. Dr. Sa will take place at Wyoming UMC, Dover, DE at 4:00 pm on September 27, 2015. It will be a great time of fellowship with love, joy, and praises. The service will be followed by a reception.

CLERGY CONNECTIONS COMING THIS FALL! Greetings fellow Clergy! As many of you already know, the Salisbury District tries to maintain good communications and ongoing training among our colleagues. Of course, our gatherings are meant for fellowship (and food, of course!), but we also want these gatherings to be informative. So please give me your feedback. What topics interest you and may interest our colleagues? What do you need help with we can cover in 45 minutes to and hour? I look forward to hearing back from you! FINANCIAL LEADERSHIP SERIES FOR LAITY The Mid-Atlantic United Methodist Foundation is offering a series of FREE trainings for all Pen-Del and EPA Conference laity. The purpose of these courses (4 in all) is to help enhance a better understanding and skills needed for financial leadership in local churches so that laity and clergy can work together to grow healthy congregations. The first session, held on November 7th, at Calvary UMC in Milford, is "A Theology of Stewardship" and "Creating a Culture of Giving." This session is intended to help lay persons articulate theological and biblical understandings of effective stewardship. It will also teach best practices for creating a climate of generosity in the local church. The session will start at 9 am and end at 3 pm. Online registration is coming SOON! The remaining sessions are: "Organizing for Effective Stewardship" and "Using Vision and Mission to Budget" "Best Practices for Church Finances" and "Annual and Capital Campaigns" "Endowments, Planned Giving" and "Property and Insurance Issues" The location and dates for remaining sessions are pending. Oh yes, lunch is included also, AT NO CHARGE! What a great deal!
