This year, we re going to be looking at our identity as God s covenant people, proclaimed in the Gospel and sealed by the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord s Supper. OUR CHURCH FAMILY The bracketed numbers indicate the Community to which these individuals belong Jane W (6) passed way suddenly on September 5, 2018 at the age of 82. Our condolences are extended to her son, Jeff (14) and her entire family with the loss of a dear mother and grandmother. A funeral service was held yesterday in our church. May God be their comfort and strength during this difficult time. Please continue to pray for: those who are shut-in and/or unable to worship with us on a regular basis because of various health issues; Sandra K (1) at Freeport Hospital; those dealing with depression and other forms of mental illness; those dealing with cancer, its treatment and effects: Arend S (11); those dealing with broken relationships; those who are unemployed or underemployed; Anthony and Barbara P with Daystar Ministries on Manitoulin Island; Hank and Rosario S volunteering with Resonate Global Mission in Guatemala The staff and leadership at the Journey as they are currently without a pastor and are going through a process of discerning God s future for their congregation; the persecuted Church; the Ministries and the Leadership of our congregation Congratulations to the following members celebrating a birthday in the coming week: Sep 14 Carol W (3) Sep 15 Johanna O (1) May they experience God s richest blessings in the coming year and as they celebrate their birthday! Our offering today is for the Refugee Fund. The K family is moving forward in the final steps needed for their journey to Canada. The Refugee fund will assist the deacons in settling this family in Kitchener. In addition to this offering, there is also a list of items that are being collected for the K family. Please see the announcement at the end of the bulletin. Next week our offering is for Laurentian Hills Christian School (LHCS): LHCS believes that it is our responsibility as Christians to raise children in the light of God s word. The education of children must be Christcentered equipping them to become responsive disciples of Christ who seek the will of the Lord in all aspects of life. Tomorrow evening at 7:00 pm is the final date for training! Disability awareness training, safe church policy training, and emergency and fire safety training is once again a requirement (an annual requirement) for volunteering at CCRC. If you are an officebearer or volunteering or helping in any of the ministries at CCRC you are asked come for an evening of awareness training in the areas mentioned. If you have any questions you can direct them to Pastor Carel or any member of the Safe Church Team. The Bridge App: Our denomination has launched an app entitled The Bridge App which is available to our congregation. The purpose of this app is to increase communication within our local church and the greater denomination. Features available on the app initially will be the Today devotional, an electronic Bible and our church directory. This directory will include all entries that are in our current paper directory and will only be viewable by verified users as determined by church administration. If you do not wish to have your information available via the app please email Donna V at office@ccrc.on.ca or phone 519-743-9482. In the future we may enable features such as donations, event calendar, announcements and prayer requests. These features require further discussions with council and more information with be forthcoming. While you can download the app from The App Store or the Play Store immediately and set up a user account for authorization, information specific to CCRC (i.e. church directory) will not be available until October 1 st. Communities: Next Sunday, September 16 our Communities and Community Care Groups have the opportunity to meet together on a regular basis. The following dates have been set aside for such meetings:

September 16 September 30 October 14 October 28 November 11 November 25 The Communities are organized to provide fellowship, pastoral care, discipleship and mission or outreach in the local area. Since our primary means of ministry is through our 12 Communities you are encouraged to meet with your Community whenever the opportunity arises. More information will be available next week. This past week the September/October Youth Ministries Newsletter was emailed to the congregation. If you would prefer a hard copy printed copies are available at the Information Centre. Take some time to read and stay informed on what is happening with Youth Ministries at CCRC! Knifty Knitters: If you love to knit and/or crochet, please join us at the church this Tuesday, Sep 11, at 9:30 a.m. for a morning of caring through crafting. New members and visitors are always welcome. If you have any questions, please call May H. Just a heads up that on September 25 (our next meeting) we will be packing the projects that were completed during the summer. The Consistory and Diaconate will meet this Tuesday, Sep 11 at 7:30 pm at the church. Community 13 Reminder: There is a potluck scheduled for September 16 after the morning service in the gym. Are you interested in serving in women's ministries? Do you have a passion for God's Word and how it applies to our families and our lives as women? Do you desire to give back to a ministry that touches many women and children's lives? Then please come out on Wednesday, September 12th for Coffee Break's Small Group Information Morning to join the Coffee Break leadership team as we discuss the upcoming season. Currently we are looking for women to help co-facilitate small group discussions. The studies we will be offering this year are the following: 1) Calm My Anxious Heart by Linda Dillow, 2) The Family Project by Focus on the Family, 3) Matthew: One King to Rule Them All, and 4) An in-depth discussion of Psalm 23. If you are interested in blessing the Coffee Break ministry, please consider helping co-lead one of these studies. Please RSVP by Monday, Sep 10 th to Jen F as to whether or not you can join us for the information session." Faith Formation Dessert Social: The ministry leaders of the Faith Formation ministries are welcome to join members of the Administrative Council for a dessert social on Wednesday, September 12 at 7pm in the gymnasium. Come enjoy each other s company, chat about our Faith Formation ministries, and eat some tasty treats! Cadets: Registration for the upcoming ministry year is open! L.A.F.F. (Life After Fifty Five) will start its ministry year on Tuesday, September 18. This year we will be studying King David. Pastor Bernie will lead the group in Lesson #1 which will be available in your church mailbox. Coffee and Fellowship is at 10:15 a.m. with the meeting to start at 10:45 a.m. Lunch will be provided. Please check the sign up list on the Gold and Sliver Board if you need a reminder as to when you volunteered to bring lunch. If you would like information about L.A.F.F. or have any questions please call or email Richard D or Geralee H. Friendship mentors orientation: Friendship mentors are reminded that there is an orientation meeting scheduled for Sept. 18, at 7:00 pm at the church. The schedule for the year will be reviewed as well as comments on last year s program. The materials will be distributed etc. Please mark your calendars. Calling new pianists! How would you like to practice your public playing skills? Friendship offers you a unique opportunity to strengthen your musical skills by playing for Friendship on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm. The songs are easy and short and you ll be accompanied by Friendship students on guitar, drums, etc. It often is a great jam session. If interested talk with either Colin D, Derrick G. or Bernie D. Coffee Break's Registration Morning is on Wednesday, September 19th! Please arrive by 9:30 am in order to get pre-registered and to enjoy the activities planned for the morning. Family Faith Formation Tip: - It s Grandparents Day today! Grandparents (both official and honorary) can have a deep impact on children s faith. If you re a grandparent or someone who has that role in a child s life, let them know today how very much they mean to you. Ask them how you can pray for them. Share stories of times

when you felt God s love for you, and assure kids that Jesus loves them too. Order forms can be found near the bulletin board across from the washrooms and may be placed in Jocelyn K s mailbox by Wednesday September 19 th.
