Gospel: Mark 9:2-10 Jesus led Peter, James and John up a high mountain, where he conversed with Elijah and Moses. A voice proclaimed This is my Son, my beloved. Listen to him. Then Jesus was alone and warned them not to tell anyone what they had seen until he had risen from the dead. Then Peter said to Jesus in reply Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us make three tents, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah. He hardly knew what to say, they were so terrified. Then a cloud came, casting a shadow over them, from the cloud came a voice, This is my beloved Son, Listen to him. Suddenly looking around they no longer saw anyone but Jesus alone with them. Today we join the three apostles, the two prophets and Jesus on the Mount of the Transfiguration. A mountain in the bible is where God meets His people. The two great persons representing the law and the prophets, and Jesus, have a new experience of God's presence. Like Peter today, it is good we are here for worship, or for private time reading, or reflecting on this scripture account. Like Peter we may not know what to say in the awesome presence of the Almighty. Following the voice from the cloud, we pause to listen. What is the Lord asking of me as I begin this second week of Lent? Is He offering me words of comfort and consolation in my life as I struggle to draw closer to Him? Is He wishing that I consider how special it is to spend some time apart to grow in holiness this Lent? As I descend from the mountain is it time for me to invite others to experience the great love Jesus has for us? He is the Father's beloved an so am I. As I look around may I too see only Jesus. Got Rosary s? A handmade rosary is a meaningful and memorable gift for a child making their First Holy Communion, Confirmation or for any special occasion. All proceeds will benefit Epiphany Parish. You can find samples in the Commons Area in the glass case under the Parish Announcements. Order forms are in the Commons Area. Stations of the Cross Please join us on Fridays during Lent for Stations of the Cross at 7:30 in the Worship area. Contemporary Tenebrae Service The Epiphany Adult Choir presents: Hope in the Shadows: a Contemporary Tenebrae Service. Enhance your Lenten season by joining us here at Epiphany, on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 7:00PM for this special Tenebrae service. Hope in the Shadows recalls Christ s journey to the cross by examining the shadows of betrayal, injustice and agony that marked the journey. It contrasts the selfish exploits of humanity with the diving nature of loving God. Spring into Easter Parish Fundraiser! Starting February 10 th we will be selling Old Monmouth Easter candy.
