JANUARY 20, 2019

WELCOME Westminster Presbyterian Church is a covenant family of believers called by God to fulfill His purposes here in Laurel, and as a staging ground for worldwide kingdom growth where we seek to live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ to fill the earth with disciples, subdue it redemptively for God s glory, and worship Him joyfully. We are being redeemed and equipped by the Spirit to build up one another until the Lord returns.

ORDER FOR THE CELEBRATION OF PUBLIC WORSHIP AND HOLY COMMUNION JANUARY 20, 2019 * Congregation Standing WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS Phil Buehler WORD ON WORSHIP Rev. Mike Allen INVOCATION INTROIT Lisa Badley How Deep the Father s Love RESPONSIVE CALL TO WORSHIP* My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to You; my soul also, which You have redeemed. -- Psalm 71:23 HYMN OF PRAISE * Praise to the Lord, the Almighty

PRAISE TO THE LORD, THE ALMIGHTY

PROFESSION OF OUR CHURCH S FAITH* I believe in God the Father Almighty; Maker of Heaven and Earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. (church universal)* -The Apostles Creed RECEPTION OF NEW MEMBERS We welcome Grant and Emily Saxton into our fellowship this morning. HYMN OF DEDICATION O Church Arise GIVING OF TITHES AND OFFERINGS OFFERTORY OFFERING PRAYER Our Great Savior

O CHURCH ARISE

ANTHEM How Marvelous Are the Works of the Lord Choir PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION AND CHANGE SCRIPTURE LESSON AND SERMON From Groaning to Glory What Kind of God Sends Plagues? Part 2 Exodus 9:13-10:29 CORPORATE CONFESSION OF SIN Sovereign Lord, Who made the heavens and the earth and all that in them is, Who sustains all things by Your power, Who has, from all eternity, freely elected a people to be Your own, and Who will bring all creation to its intended end, we acknowledge with grief and sorrow that we have thought too little of You and too much of ourselves: we have failed to worship, serve, and trust You as we ought; we have relied upon our own selfish passions, rather than submitting to Your will. Please forgive us, and renew our hearts that we may humbly bow before Your Majesty and bring glory to Your holy Name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Hear now our silent and individual prayers of confession)

ASSURANCE OF PARDON AND THE LORD S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. AMEN. HOLY COMMUNION Minister: The peace of the Lord be with you! People: And also with you! Breaking of the Bread and Sharing of the Cup The center of each bread tray contains gluten-free bread. The outer ring of each cup tray contains wine, the inner rings contain juice. BENEDICTION HYMN OF REFLECTION* O Church Arise So, Spirit, come, put strength in ev ry stride, give grace for ev ry hurdle That we may run with faith to win the prize of a servant, good and faithful. As saints of old still line the way, retelling triumphs of His grace, we hear their calls, and hunger for the day when, with Christ, we stand in glory.
