From the Pastor s Desk: Merry Christmas and Blessed New Year! As we are living the last week of Advent and approaching Christmas, let us give thanks to God who sends us the Emmanuel. He is Jesus Christ, our true Hope, in this uncertain world. He does not only bring peace, but the Peace Himself for the world. Let us not forget those who are under burdensome of being dejected, lonely, lost, and hopeless. May the Prince of Peace will be their comfort and hope! I was moved by witnessing many our young children and students (from school), who helped to collect food (food drive) and to give those generous gifts to our brothers and sisters in need in town. I enjoyed to have seniors shared their wisdom and stories as they spent an evening with one another at Seniors Christmas Party hosted by C.W.L in Fox Valley. There are more to tell about your generosity which touches the community. The Joy of Christmas is what we have been doing as community to bring authentic and practical gift to others around us. I pray that you all will be ready to welcome the Messiah who will fill your hearts with His presence of joy and love. Especially, I ask you all to pray for our parishes that we may find God s way which brings us together in one: to worship Him faithfully and to reach out to serve His people sincerely. All He needs from us is to have our humble response to Him wholeheartedly. My sincere thanks to all our Parish Pastoral Councils, CWL, Knight of Columbus, Catechists, Choirs, Environment Committees, Volunteers, the youth, parents and the faithful who help me endlessly in my ministry this year. May God bless you all abundantly! May the Prince of Peace be with you and yours as you celebrate His Birthday this Christmas! May the Price of Hope be with you and yours as you enter a New Year in prosperity and hope! May the Mother of God, Mary the Virgin inspires you all to say YES to let Christ entering into your life and transforming each of you with His presence! Yours in Christ-the Emmanuel, Fr. Hoang Nguyen
From a sermon of Saint Leo the Great, pope CHRISTIAN, REMEMBER YOUR DIGNITY! Dearly beloved, today our Savior is born; let us rejoice. Sadness should have no place on the birthday of life. The fear of death has been swallowed up; life brings us joy with the promise of eternal happiness. No one is shut out from this joy; all share the same reason for rejoicing. Our Lord, victor over sin and death, finding no man free from sin, came to free us all. Let the saint rejoice as he sees the palm of victory at hand. Let the sinner be glad as he receives the offer of forgiveness. Let the pagan take courage as he is summoned to life. In the fullness of time, chosen in the unfathomable depths of God s wisdom, the Son of God took for himself our common humanity in order to reconcile it with its creator. He came to overthrow the devil, the origin of death, in that very nature by which he had overthrown mankind. And so at the birth of our Lord the angels sing in joy: Glory to God in the highest, and they proclaim peace to men of good will as they see the heavenly Jerusalem being built from all the nations of the world. When the angels on high are so exultant at this marvelous work of God s goodness, what joy should it not bring to the lowly hearts of men? Beloved, let us give thanks to God the Father, through his Son, in the Holy Spirit, because in his great love for us he took pity on us, and when we were dead in our sins he brought us to life with Christ, so that in him we might be a new creation. Let us throw off our old nature and all its ways and, as we have come to birth in Christ, let us renounce the works of the flesh. Christian, remember your dignity, and now that you share in God s own nature, do not return by sin to your former base condition. Bear in mind who is your head and of whose body you are a member. Do not forget that you have been rescued from the power of darkness and brought into the light of God s kingdom. Through the sacrament of baptism you have become a temple of the Holy Spirit. Do not drive away so great a guest by evil conduct and become again a slave to the devil, for your liberty was bought by the blood of Christ. Responsory. Today true peace has come down to us from heaven;* the skies rain down sweetness all over the world.. day of new redemption has dawned, a day of eternal bliss, prepared from of old:*the skies rain down sweetness all over the world.
