Weekly Offertory Retrouvaille Weekend Offertory of 10/23/2016 $10,503.35 Baptisms We welcome those who entered our Catholic faith through the waters of Baptism: Evangeline Rose Miceli Retrouvaille will be held on January 20th-22nd in the Acadiana area. Retrouvaille is a ministry for couples in troubled marriages. Retrouvaille is French for rediscovery or reawakening. You may be more familiar with marriage encounter, which is intended to enrich good, stable marriages. Retrouvaille is more like a lifeline for troubled or broken marriages and hurting couples. It is for married couples who are anxious about their marriage, alone or distant from their partner, disillusioned or bored in their marriage, or who are experiencing coldness or conflict. Locally, Retrouvaille of Acadiana hosts 3 weekends per year followed by the six post-weekend sessions on Sunday afternoons. The weekends involve intensive work on communication skills and provide the foundation for the forgiveness and trust essential for rebuilding broken marriages. The six post-sessions frame up the concepts and provide practical solutions such as a method to resolve conflicts in a way that avoids the hurts of the past. Retrouvaille is a peer ministry, meaning that all of the presenting couples are past attendees who came to Retrouvaille with marriages in trouble and who have firsthand experience of the benefits that can result. Memorial Mass St. Joseph s Annual Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, November 7, 2016, at 6:00 pm in honor of the Catholic Daughters, Knights of Columbus, Lay Carmelites, St. Joseph Society, St. Vincent depaul Society and Ladies Altar Society members who have returned to the Father during the past year. A reception will follow in the Family Life Center. Everyone is invited to this moving tribute to remember and honor those who have so devotedly and lovingly served St. Joseph Parish. High School Youth Ministry A weekly gathering for high school students focusing on fellowship, worship, and bible study. Youth Spotlight Youth group is a huge aspect of my life and I will forever be grateful that I was enrolled at a young age. It has taught me that no matter what, if I keep my faith in God, I can do anything. It has taught me so much about something I was already so passionate about. I have learned that prayer is the cure for everything and at hard times God is your best friend. It has shown me to be grateful for everything I have and everything I have accomplished because I have been blessed more than I could ever ask for. I am truly blessed to be a part of youth group. Pope Francis Says John Paul II s Intuition Seen Even More Clearly Today In address to Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family, recalls that family is the icon of God s alliance with the entire human family Pope John Paul II s far-sighted intuition in establishing the John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family is ever more clear today, Pope Francis says. The Pope said this when he received today in the Vatican some 400 people representing these academic institutions. Pope Francis The Polish Pontiff vigorously restored to the attention of the Church, and to human society itself, the depth and delicate nature of the bonds that are generated from the conjugal alliance between man and woman, Francis said. The Pope emphasised that the development of the Institute on all five continents confirms the validity and meaning of the Catholic form of its program, while he added that further initiatives can be developed to foster discussion with people of different religions and cultures. At the current moment, conjugal and family bonds are challenged in many ways, he said, including: - A culture that exalts narcissistic individualism, - A concept of freedom detached from responsibility for the other, - The growth of indifference with regard to the common good, - The imposition of ideologies that directly attack the family project, and - The growth of the poverty that threatens the future of many families - Open questions on the development of new technologies, which make possible practices that are at times contrary to the true dignity of human life. The uncertainty and disorientation that affect the fundamental affections of the person and of life destabilise all bonds, family and social, causing I always to prevail over we, the individual over society. It is an outcome that contradicts the plan of God, Who entrusted the world and history to the alliance of man and woman. This alliance, by its very nature, implies cooperation and respect, generous dedication and shared responsibility, and the capacity for recognising difference as a wealth and as a promise, not as a reason for subjugation and abuse, the Holy Father said. The Church sees in the family the icon of God s alliance with the entire human family. The charity of the Church therefore endeavours to develop, at doctrinal and pastoral level, our capacity to read and interpret, for our time, the truth and the beauty of God s creative design. The irradiation of this divine plan requires a special intelligence of love, and also strong evangelical dedication, inspired by great compassion and mercy for the vulnerability and fallibility of love between human beings.
