Weekly Bulletin - Oct 4th 2009 For up to date information www.grantonparish.org.uk Sharing the love and knowledge Of God to create a better and fairer world for all What s Christianity about anyway? But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw God's glory and Jesus standing at the right side of God. "Look!" he said. "I see heaven opened and the Son of Man standing at the right side of God!" Act 7:55-56 What s Christianity about anyway? Anyone who encounters Christianity from the media must surely consider it a weird sect full of people who don t relate to normal folks. Yet all over the world billions of people practice this faith so there must be something in it. We are going to explore where life and faith meet.

Next Week s Topic Sunday 11 th October Being a Christian Today in Scotland What does it mean to be Scottish? What does it mean to be a Scottish Christian? We live and grow as part of the society around us so we can only exercise faith in the context of our society. Does Christianity have anything to say in the wider context of our culture? We believe it does. (See the website for service details up till Christmas)

You cannot give them a better gift! Nationally in Scotland this year is a special one where we are celebrating our roots. People who have been connected with our country are being encouraged to come back and celebrate their past connections. We are doing the same in here in Granton by holding a Homecoming themed service on Sunday 1st November. If you know anyone who was connected to Granton but has moved on then please let Ian/Irene McPherson or Olive Lyall know. Sunday 1st November at 6.30pm in the evening we will be gathering to remember loved ones who have passed away. The Thanksgiving & Memorial service is a particularly poignant and meaningful time where we have the opportunity to give thanks for those we have had the privilege of sharing Proposed plans to redevelop the vestibule are at the back of the church. Please pray and ask God to make his will clear to us as a church on whether we should do this. Rotas Rotas for the next 6 months have now been made up. Email copies have been sent out and there are hard copies at the back of the church for those not on email. Kirk Outlook Deadline to submit articles for the next issue will be Sunday 27th September.
