Coaches Ministry To & Through the Coach
* The role that FCA plays in our general school climate is enormous. This past year we had more kids involved in FCA than in any other years in the past. The kids have spread that love and passion for Jesus Christ throughout the school. Spirits have been raised and the school environment has been improved. FCA means a lot to our student's and in a world where most music on the radio or TV has so many overtones of sex, drugs and violence; it is great to walk in every other Friday (Huddle) and to see young people (middle school) singing and praising God is awesome!!! Jerry Richardson, (Coach Hightower Middle, Pope Asst. Wrestling) * The Walton Coaching staff and players have been very blessed to have the FCA Ministry as a part of our sports programs. Whether it be holding Bible study on Wednesday morning for our coaches or bringing drinks to cool down players at the end of practice. FCA has touched many lives. This past year, I have seen more of a brotherly fellowship among many of the coaches that attend morning Bible study. This positive impact has also transferred over to our players which I feel will continue to positively impact our community as a whole. Christian Suttle, Athletic Director Walton High School * Thanks for the call yesterday! Really made my day and helped me focus on what's important. I appreciate you keeping me and my players in your prayers. It means an awful lot. Having you and Shad Goltz serve the team and lead us in pre-game devotions this season helped us to stay focus on what matters most. Thank you sir! John McLaughlin, Kell Head V. Boys LAX Coach
The Coaches' Bible Study every Wednesday morning has had great impact on our coaching staff as well as our players. We have had some players walk in our office during the prayer session and for them to see their coaches "holding hands with heads bowed and eyes closed", gives them a different out look on who is coaching them. It has also helped to bridge gaps with coaches in other sports. The FCA Bible study has done wonders for our Team and Staff. Coach Davidson Walton Head Golf/Asst. Football Coach FCA impacted me at N. Cobb High School it was a great place to meet with like minded people while in a public school. We have had a huddle here for four years and it has brought unity to the athletes as it gives them a common bond with similar goals. Even at a Christian school it helps them to bridge the gap of their athletic abilities with there faith off and on the field. The sale of CFA biscuits weekly have helped us to raise enough money to send 200 Bibles to Haiti this year. We are glad to be apart of FCA. We are looking to start a Coaches Bible study this coming year. Bryan Lindner, FCS Asst. AD, Football, Wrestling, and Baseball Coach/ Huddle Sponsor * The FCA staff who call on our school have truly been a blessing to our team and coaching staff this past year. They have become an integral part of our program and we look forward to their visits and messages each week. Jep Irwin, Lassiter Head Football Coach FCA has been a tremendous support for my program, they show their love and appreciation for all of my players and their families and are always ready and willing to serve. Richard Groeneveld, Pope Head Boys Soccer Coach
*FCA, with personal help and understanding from yourself and Scott, has helped me put in perspective what we desperately hope to achieve as coaches. The belief of what Jesus sacrificed on the cross, puts a game into a very simple perspective. I always tell the players when they are playing in front of hostile crowds and dirty players trying to provoke them, think of the trials and tribulations of Jesus and those that followed him. This puts the game situation in another perspective, and should put your situation and objective to not fight back in retaliation, to remain calm and perform in the right manner, much easier. Sports often test your content of character. I am very proud of our win record but also our discipline; very few yellow and red cards over the years. Content of character. God bless you. Bucky Boozer, Walton Head Soccer Coach, 6 th Time State Champions Retires after 27 years. *I have seen how FCA impact athletes and coaches here at FCS. It has helped the students grow in their personal walk with Jesus Christ which was reflected on and off the field as their performance demonstrated to me how I too could desire Him more. Watching as they praise and worship the Lord has helped me to learn from them. I plan to be more involved next year with the huddles. Adam Gustavson, FCS Certified Athletic Trainer / Strength Conditions Specialist. * Serving as one of the FCA huddle sponsors here at Dodgen over the last 4 years has been a true blessing. It has helped me to grow in my own walk with the Lord while providing a platform for the students to grow in their faith. It helps them to be encouraged to share their faith with the whole school to make an impact for Jesus Christ. Leslie White, PE/Health Dodgen Middle
FCA has affected me mentally, physically, & spiritually it has helped me to convey to my team that having a relationship with Jesus Christ will help them when they face trials and tribulations. We plan to have a team huddle and Bible study again next year. It has helped to have a pre-game devotions this season. God can help us through the tough time in life and FCA gives us the spiritual element that helps us to know how to apply his teachings. It has helped me personally this year to deal with some cancer scare that turned out to be negative. Then, as my Mom was dealing with breast cancer and as my daughter had some injuries as well. The weekly Coaches Bible study here at Walton was a blessing. Matt Miller, Walton 2011 Head Lacrosse State Champion/Asst. Football Coach FCA has had a big impact on my life for the last 25 years. There is no greater organization for athletes and coaches that has an impact for Christ. So glad to be a part of it! Pat Abney, Pope Asst. AD, Head Basketball Coach/Huddle Sponsor The FCA staff has done a fantastic job encouraging and helping the Walton High School baseball team. It is nice to have a God loving man who puts his time in for young people in the Walton community. Shane Amos Walton Head Baseball Coach/Huddle Sponsor FCA has impacted me personally on a number of levels but most importantly it is a great support network of people. They will take time to meet one on one or feed the entire team. It s a great organization that constantly up lifts, serve and encourage you when times are challenging and especially in the good times. They provide resources like character development and devotion books, bibles, bible studies and team chaplains. Derek Cook, Kell Head Football Coach

Pray as though nothing of eternal value is going to happen in my athletes lives unless God does it. Prepare each practice and game, giving my utmost for His highest. Seek not to be served by my athletes for personal gain, but serve them as Christ served the church. Be satisfied not with producing a winning record, but with producing winning athletes. INTEGRITY, TEAMWORK, SERVICE, EXCELLENCE Attend carefully to my private and public walk with God, knowing that the athlete will never rise to a standard higher than that being lived by the coach. Glorify Christ in my coaching, trusting the Lord will then draw athletes to Himself. Desire to have a growing hunger for God s Word, a transformed heart and daily obedience. Depend solely upon God for transformation, one athlete at a time. Live out Christ s word in a Christ-like manner, on and off the field of competition. Recognize that it is impossible to bring glory to both myself and Christ at the same time. Allow my coaching to produce the fruit of the Spirit, thus producing athletes who are authentic followers of Christ. Trust God to reveal to my athletes His chosen purposes, regardless of whether the wins are clearly visible. Coach with humble gratitude, as one privileged to be God s coach.
