October /November 2018... Page 2 Lion of The Month Lion of the month was Lion Leslie Hutchings. She is being recognized for all the great work she is doing with the huge job of Vision Screening Co-coordinator. Leslie has done a wonderful job of handling the responsibilities of the preschools, elementary schools and middle schools in Brentwood. It takes the efforts of the whole vision committee to do this service to make it successful. So thank you to all that volunteer. For this year BDL has screened approximately 3000 students. Timber Point Students lend a helping had to the food drive collection. Byron Delta members delivering the food from the food drive. As you may or may not know the Lions Closet is a district wide project. That means for it to succeed all Lions Clubs must be part of the vision. The BDLC is doing their part by being on hand to help with the sorting and displaying of the goods being donated. Their need is great and welcome all the help they can get. If you are interested in finding out more information please contact Madonna Leeper, she will be happy to help you get started..

October/November 2018... Page 4 OPERATION CREEKSIDE Operation Creekside began with one man following God s prompting to send care packages to deployed men and women. By sharing his passion it has grown by leaps and bounds over the last 10 years. They have shipped over 12,500 care packages so far and more importantly they have prayed specifically for the names on those boxes, and send the blessings out immediately. The prayer of this ministry came from Scott Kirk, which actually turned this into a ministry at that point the spiritual blessings are felt by the Team and all who join us. Chaplain Ed McClelland makes road trips across the country, meeting those who need someone to listen and care. Ed has also been the catalyst in designing and fabricating unique memorial benches, delivering them in person to the families of the fallen. For more information please visit their website. www.operationcreekside.org or www.22toomany.com This is what the boxes look like that they send to the troops. Lion Judy DePaoli is sending this one.

October/November 2018... Page 5 Early Veterans Day morning 6 Byron Delta Lions joined the El Cerrito Lions at their annual Flags for Veterans at Sunset view Cemetery. Lions Suzanne Berry, June Fournier, Leslie Hutchings, Ann Jordan-Talley, Carol Luke and Wendy Snyder joined District 4-C3 Lions and local Boy Scouts for a short ceremony before heading out to place flags on the graves of veterans. Each General meeting there is a special speaker invited to come and share their passion. For the month of November we had two speakers. One was Ed McClelland and the other was Avery Barbara Ruvalcaba possibly the youngest to be invited. As a special guest she was invited to lead us in the pledge of allegiance and then going on to sing God Bless America by herself and of course with the microphone. She was very composed for her first performance and now she only wants to sing by herself and with a big microphone. Look out for this little one she loves to entertain.
