(Or we expected to hear.) I want to say thanks to all our brothers and sisters who have been very faithful in greeting our members and guests each Sunday as they come in. Without them and others, people would not feel welcome. So please look around every Sunday and if you see someone you don t know just say I have not met you and give them your name, and ask are you a member or I have not met you before. This is not a very hard thing to do. We do it all the time in our daily life but, this is especially important when we greet each other and more important when we greet visitors to make them feel welcome in our services. I have had the privilege of being asked a few years ago, to organize greeters for our services. I would like to encourage you to think of becoming a greeter. It will allow you to meet more people and make them feel welcome. Our greeters are assigned to a team and do not serve more than one Sunday a month. We currently have five teams headed by a leader. Those who serve as leaders are: Nancy Clements, Maggie Frame, John Franklin, Pat Gay and Randy Dupuy. At the present time we are in great need of greeters to serve at the start of the second morning worship. They would only need to be at the doors fifteen minutes prior to the start of the service and stay at least fifteen minutes after the start of the service. So if you attend the second service, and would like to join the greeters of Netherwood, please contact me or one of the Team Leaders and tell them you would like to become a greeter. They can let me know, and I will see that you will be assigned to one of our great teams. In addition to greeters, we have a need to have people to assist Angie Carter with the Welcome Booth in the Lobby. I also want to encourage you to contact her so she can take a rest sometimes and also have someone to fill in when she is sick or wants to go out of town. So please give her your name. If you have any questions, please contact me and I will answer your questions. Again this is a very important part of our worship service. Fred Bitting That all may know we are disciples of Jesus Christ. John 13: 34-35

Wednesday, May 21st, 2014 Read John 11:45-53 and consider how the responses or the religious leaders including Caiaphas testify about who they say Jesus is. How are you similar to the religious leaders? How are you unlike the religious leaders? What is God saying to you in this passage? What are you going to do about it? Thursday, May 22nd, 2014 Read Mark 2:1-5 and consider what the actions of the men who brought the paralytic to Jesus said about who they thought Jesus was. In what ways do we need to be more like these men? Spend five minutes in silent meditation about who you believe Jesus is. Friday, May 23rd, 2014 Read Mark 8:27-37 and consider what Peter s response/ confession indicated about who he believed Jesus to be. How does your life echo Peter s confession? In what ways does your life not resemble the confession of Peter? Pray about these things today. Saturday, May 24th, 2014 Reread Mark 8:27-37. What is God saying to you in this passage? How are you going to respond? May 18, 2014 Netherwood Park Small Group Questions Intro Question 1. What is your reaction when you are around people who do the very things they tell others not to? Read aloud James 1:19-27 1. Why must we get rid of moral filth and evil in our lives before the word can be planted (deeply rooted) in us? How can we successfully weed out moral filth and evil from our lives? 2. Why is it so common for Christians to hear the word frequently but only infrequently (or selectively) do what it says? What can we do to help each other be more consistent doers of the word? 3. Why is the inability to control what comes out of our mouths such a good gage of our true spiritual life? What suggestions would you give to someone struggling with this problem? Application James cites taking care of distressed orphans and widows as evidence of pure religion: do you believe he intended that as an exhaustive list? Why or why not? If not, what behaviors do you believe could be added to the list today? Why?

Face to Face with Jesus: Who Am I? This Sunday will begin a new series entitled Face to Face with Jesus. In this series, we will look at different encounters that Jesus had with various people and see what these encounters tell us about Jesus and what these encounters tell us about who we are. This week, we will look at Jesus encounter with Peter when Peter confesses Jesus as the Christ. (Walter Lane) Monday, May 19th, 2014 Read Luke 9:18-20 and consider why Jesus asked His disciples this first question about who people said that He was. Didn t He already know? Why was this such an important question to Jesus? Why did Jesus ask His disciples who they thought He was? Wasn t the fact that they were already following Him a very clear indicator of who they thought He was? Pray today that you would understand the importance of daily being able to answer the question that Jesus asked His disciples about Himself. Who do you say that I am? Tuesday, May 20th, 2014 Read John 12:42-43 and consider how the actions of the religious leaders very clearly stated what they believed about who Jesus was outside of their belief in Him? Consider today the proclamations that you make about your faith in Jesus versus your actions in the name of Jesus. Do they match up or are there large disconnections between the two? Pray about these things today.
