August 2018 From the Desk of Wyoming Knights of Columbus State Deputy Wyoming Diocese / Bishop Hart Dear Worthy Brother Knights of Columbus All, I come to you with a heavy heart, as this is an issue I wish not to discuss. Brought to my attention was the use of The Knights of Columbus name and address book to express a personal feeling. Whether you agree or disagree with the diocese position on this matter, The Wyoming Knights of Columbus, does not have a position in it. Please do not identify as representing The Knights of Columbus. In any print or in person. We need to come together in prayer. Pray the Rosary of the Blessed Mother. She will take care of our Priests, all the way up to the Pope. Pray to her, for her intersection to our Lord, Jesus Christ. I'm sure the evil in this world is rejoicing to hear of this upheaval. Pray my Brothers Pray. May God Bless You, your Families, and your work. Vivat Jesus James L. August 2018 Page 3 Monthly Challenge from the Supreme Chaplain August 2018 Jesus then said to the Twelve, Do you also want to leave? Simon Peter answered him, Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God. Gospel for Aug. 30 ( Jn 6:67-69) Challenge by Supreme Chaplain Archbishop William E. Lori: I don t know about you, but I can look back on moments in my life when Peter s words have been personal. I have said to Jesus in prayer: Master, to whom shall I go? I hope that you likewise have reached a point in your life where you know with certainty that there is nowhere to go but Jesus: not to power, money, sex, alcohol or anything else that can become a false master in our lives. Jesus is the Holy One of God, and our lives must bear evidence of this. Let us become men who, with Peter, can truly say, Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Your Goal for August This month I challenge you to make a daily examination of conscience, probing your heart to find the false masters (e.g., comfort, power, appearance) to whom you go. Take a few minutes before bed to review the day, including both your blessings and sins. Second, I challenge you to eliminate one of your vices, and when you are tempted to participate in that vice, pray, Jesus, I trust in you.
August 2018 Page 4 Supreme has announced that Faith in Action has replaced the Surge with Service Program. With this change, nine new programs were introduced. One of the new programs will be featured in each Cowboy Bulletin edition for the next few months. SPIRITUAL REFLECTION Many Catholic young people can attest that religious retreats are radically rejuvenating spiritual events that often leave a lasting impact on participants relationship to their faith. Yet, so often, retreats seem only open to students and youth. In conjunction with pastors, councils and jurisdictions can hold low-cost retreats of their own. These events might be open only to council members or men of the parish or may be open to entire families. If councils are unable to organize events themselves, they could go as a group and attend a retreat in their area to satisfy the requirement. The Cody Council hosted a first degree exemplification for three young men, Danny Beaudrie recently graduated for Cody High School, his brother John Beaudrie is attending Mesa College in Colorado and good friend Jesse Campbell attends the University of Wyoming. John and Danny Beaudrie are third generation Knights of Columbus, their Father Joe and Grandfather PGK Dennis are members of the Cody Council as well as their Uncle, PGK Alex Sitz. Live Generously!
