CONCORDIA LUTHERAN CHURCH 1 Concordia is the Church where the love of Christ is shared through our hearts, our hands, and our voices. SEVENTH SUNDAY AFTER THE EPHIPHANY February 24, 2019 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 a.m. Oh sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things! -Psalm 98:1a AS WE GATHER (prepared by Jim Gann) You know, as sinners we make foolish mistakes. We fail to follow God s commands for us, we don t love our neighbors as ourselves, we fail to love God with our whole heart, and we certainly don t put God first in all we do or say. However, despite these failures, these sins, God loves us unconditionally. He is ready to forgive us, guide us in His ways and ultimately will bring us into His Heavenly house forever. So, what are we to do in response? I think you already know the answer to that: If we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. PRELUDE ANNOUNCEMENTS (p. 17-19) CALL TO WORSHIP and PASSING OF THE PEACE RINGING OF THE BELLS (Please stand and face the Cross) OPENING HYMN #851 Lord of Glory, You Have Bought Us
+ DIVINE SERVICE SETTING THREE + Pastor: In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. People: Amen. Pastor: Beloved in the Lord! Let us draw near with a true heart and confess our sins unto God our Father, beseeching Him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us forgiveness. Our help is in the name of the Lord, People: who made heaven and earth. Pastor: I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord, People: and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. 2 CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS (Silence for reflection on God s Word and for self-examination.) Pastor: Almighty God, merciful Father, People: We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed. We have done things that we should not have done, and we have failed to do the things we should have done. We have been impatient. We have grumbled. We have used coarse language and have taken Your name in vain. We have sought and received Your forgiveness and, then, we have refused to forgive our neighbor. Father, forgive us, renew us, and lead us so that we may be merciful, even as You are merciful. Amen. Pastor: Upon this your confession, I, by virtue of my office, as a called and ordained servant of the Word, announce the grace of God unto all of you, and in the stead and by the command of my Lord Jesus Christ I forgive you all you sins in the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. People: Amen.
PSALMODY (Psalm 103) Pastor: Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! People: Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, Pastor: who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, People: who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, Pastor: who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. People: The LORD works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. Pastor: He made known his ways to Moses, his acts to the people of Israel. People: The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. Pastor: He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. People: He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. Pastor: For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; People: as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. All: As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear him. 3 (Please remain standing)

In the same way also He took the cup after supper, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying: Drink of it, all of you; this cup is the new testament in My blood, which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins.
