Thank you for your understanding. Belmont The Parish Budget requires weekly offertory income of $5,300 per week. In the past, we have been able to offset that requirement by drawing on other revenue resources i.e. Christmas Fair, 300 Club, Bake Sales, Yard/Tag sales, etc. As a parish, all expenses should be paid by the offertory income and not by fundraisers. Fundraisers should be used for savings and incidentals that arise that are not budgeted. I would like to encourage everyone to prayerfully consider increasing their offertory pledge in thanksgiving to God for all that God has done for you, through the gift of his son Jesus Christ. Thank you for your generosity and continued dedication to our Parish. God Bless, Fr. CHURCH LANDSCAPING PROJECT The Parish has contracted with the Belknap Landscape Company to repair the front entryway of the church to include the steps, brick patio under the portico and the gap between the patio and walkway. The planned work is progressing nicely and with better weather conditions, the replacement of the steps and the surface beneath the portico will be finished soon and we will be able to use them. The landscaping will be completed in the spring when the weather is more favorable for planting. Thanks to all who continue to donate to the Capital Campaign.

The third Sunday in ordinary time "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord." - Lk 4:18a, 19 "He came to Nazareth, where he had grown up." Did you grow up in a small town? Whenever you see stories of tight-knit communities, a common refrain is that everybody knows everybody and that's very difficult to change. If you leave and return, people expect you to be and act a certain way, and it's strange for them if you do not. In today's Gospel, we see that Jesus was already moving "in the power of the Spirit and news of him spread throughout the whole region. He...was praised by all." His ministry has begun! News of his growing popularity must have proceeded him to Nazareth. Upon his arrival, he "went according to his custom into the synagogue on the Sabbath day." For the first few moments, he is what they expect - their hometown boy returning to pay his respects. As was common of men at the time, he takes a turn reading a passage of Sacred Scripture. It is a bold passage, one he selects intentionally. "He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me." After reading about holy anointings, liberation for the poor and prisoners, and physical healings, Jesus does the unthinkable. "'Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.'" We are all called to imitate Christ wherever we are. This might mean doing the unexpected! All too often we're content with the daily status quo, and so are the people around us. When we take a stand for Christian values, change our lifestyle to reflect the Gospel, and work for justice in society, we may make others uncomfortable. But Jesus doesn't call us to the same life we lived yesterday or the year before that. He is calling all of us - each and every one of us - to deeper conversion of heart. No matter what other people expect, will you love in the Spirit of the Lord today? PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS Our parish began a program that encourages families and individuals to pray for vocations. The packet containing a crucifix, instructions, and prayers for the week to assist your daily prayer is handed out to volunteers at the conclusion of each weekend Mass. More volunteers are needed on both Saturdays and Sundays, so please sign up on the list provided in the Parish Hall. Questions? Please contact Leonard Campbell at 455-1105 or by email at lsoup03@gmail.com. BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY One of the most compassionate and hospitable things we do as a community is to host families who have experienced the death of a loved one. Breakfast or lunch is available in the Parish Hall following the Funeral Liturgy. We are looking for Volunteers to CONTRIBUTE FOOD items, (salads, sandwiches, or finger desserts). We are also looking for HELPERS to make sure things are set -up (place tablecloths and placemats, arrange food on platters, place food on buffet tables, etc.) and made ready for families, and to help clean things up after. We all work as a team, so helpers are called on to serve in a particular sequence that spreads out the work and time commitment. If you would like to volunteer for the Bereavement Ministry, please call the Parish Office at 267-8174 A floral arrangement placed in front of the altar for the Sunday Liturgy, can be purchased for an offering of $50, with an accompanying announcement in the weekly bulletin. DIOCESAN CAMPS Camp Fatima for boys and Camp Bernadette for girls are now accepting online registrations for the 2019 summer season. The camps, located in the Lakes Region of NH, offer 2-week overnight sessions for children, ages 6-15. For more information or to request a brochure and DVD, contact Michael Drumm at 603-364-5851 or email mdrumm@campsfatimabernadette.org. You can also visit us on the web at www.campsfatimabernadette.org Availability is limited according to the Liturgical Calendar. Please call the parish office for more information. OUT OF RESPECT, PLEASE REMEMBER TO SILENCE OR TURN OFF YOUR CELL PHONE DURING MASS. THANK YOU! CAPITAL CAMPAIGN UPDATE Current total of pledges collected is $184,617! Thank you to all who have pledged and are making our campaign a success.
