Brief arrow prayers may be made whenever God brings them to mind. Most teams choose to utilize the UEC Weekend Prayer Vigil so if you can, join in. Click the Palanca button on the left side of our website home page and select the time you would like to pray (weekends through 2006 are posted). Tips are available to guide you through an hour of focused prayer for the weekenders, team, and community supporters. The bluebirds have returned, the finches and cardinals are finely feathered in their brilliant mating colors and buds are coming forth from the trees. It s a time of rebirth and renewal. The view of God s creativity helps me focus on this week when Jesus went to the cross, took on and suffered for our sins, then rose from the tomb to demonstrate God s overwhelming agape love for us. It would seem to be difficult to be unaware, unmoved and unchanged by the passion of Christ, but sadly, as Jesus predicted, many will not receive the Good News. Jesus advised His disciples [and us] to go into the world and preach the Good News to all nations, but also advised them to concentrate and give priority to those who are most likely to respond to the Good News. Unidos en Cristo is not an introduction to the Gospel, but intended as a renewal for a dormant Christian faith or as an enrichment of a faith that may still lack the personal relationship with Christ that many of us discovered during our weekends. But, Jesus advice is good guidance as we approach friends and acquaintances with an invitation to attend an Unidos en Cristo weekend. Some will respond to our invitations only after many months or years of loving persistence, while if we cast a wider net we may find others more willing to respond now. We pray that you will be successful in your efforts to sponsor friends and acquaintances. Another liaison meeting? By popular demand, there will be another meeting for liaisons and anyone wanting to serve as the Unidos champion at your church. There s a separate article on this (ed note: see below roster of women s team), but I want to encourage you to attend at 3 p.m. on May 21, just prior to the women s Clausura at Brooklyn UMC. It s your chance to meet people who have a strong interest in sponsoring weekenders and supporting their 4 th Day through Christian fellowship and renewal. May s meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss building community within and beyond your church s 4 th Day. Update on the long-range task force. This team of dedicated men and women, who have met bi-weekly since last Fall, have produced and will present their findings and recommendations to our Council this month after polling many of you for your feedback and ideas. We are indebted both to this group for its tireless work as well as those of you who ve provided input. We look forward to gaining insights and guidance for the future of our movement. And, lastly, the council members who line up the rector and rectora for the weekends and those who train team leadership and teams continue to be excited about the dedicated people God makes available for our weekends. We really do have fantastic teams involved in helping the Holy Spirit make these best ever, life-changing weekends for attendees. I pray you continue to grow in your faith and reflect His love to others each day. Serving Him together, Clark Duffey, Convenor 715-386-2543 cduffey@pressenter.com Happy Anniversary! The United Cursillo Community of Minnesota, now called Unidos en Cristo was incorporated March 5, 1980 and held its first weekend in May of 1981. If you would like to help plan a fall celebration event, please talk to a UEC Council member. The next issue of the Palanca Press will include more information (date, time, place) and we hope that you will plan to join the party. Plenty of abrazos and food are promised.
