Alive in the Spirit About four years ago I led a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. One of our stops was Cana, the town where Jesus changed water into wine. Many couples who visit Cana renew their wedding vows. I had the privilege of doing that for our couples on the pilgrimage. Marriage is so important. A good marriage can produce good things, and a bad marriage can sometimes produce bad things. We know that happily married couples produce happy children. On the opposite side of the spectrum, children from broken homes experience emotional pain from the break in the parents relationship. Nothing is set in stone, but statistics tell us that a happy marriage and emotionally healthy parents produce happy children. So I repeat, Marriage is so important. Each week we offer our Holy Family statue to a family. Some families are whole, while others are divorced. One is not better than the other. The main thing is that each family pray together. God bless single mothers and fathers who raise their children. They too are holy. Join me this week in praying for all parents, single, divorced, and married. We acknowledge all that you do for your children. May the Christ of Cana and the Blessed Virgin Mary bless all our families at OLG! Regards in Christ, Father Vincent Th_ So]i_ty of th_ Littl_ Flow_r of S[int Th_r_s_ The Society will meet on the first Saturday of each month for an 11am Holy Hour followed by Benediction. Refreshments in the Rectory after the Holy Hour. If you are interested in signing up, please call the Rectory. It is heart-warming to see all the children come up to the altar to sit with Father Vincent and share in his homily at our 10:15 Sunday Family Mass. How wonderful it would be to hear them singing in the choir. If you have children from the first grade on up who would like to sit with the choir and sing at that Mass, please speak to Ed Radonic, our Music Director, after any Mass or call the Rectory at 718-627-2020. WIDOWED SUPPORT GROUP WILL BE MEETING ON MONDAY, JANUARY 18TH AT 1:00PM IN VELTRI HALL. Love Thy Neighbor! Do you have elderly neighbors who live alone? During the winter months it is a good idea to check in on them periodically to see that they are OK or if they might need something from the store or pharmacy. It is important to see that they have sufficient heat in their homes or apartments. Call 911 in an emergency.
