The Evening Service 6:00 p.m. And the Lord said to Aaron, You shall have no inheritance in their land, neither shall you have any portion among them. I am your portion and your inheritance among the people of Israel. (+ Congregation please stand if able.) WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS (Numbers 18:20, ESV) Rev. Josh Squires PRELUDE: Let All Things Now Living arr. Katherine Davis Let all things now living A song of thanksgiving To God the creator triumphantly raise, Who fashion d and made us, Protected and stay d us, Who guided us on to the end of our days. His banners are o er us, His Light goes before us, A pillar of fire shining forth in the night, Till shadows have vanish d And darkness is banish d, As forward we travel from light into light! CALL TO WORSHIP The Junior Choir + HYMN: In Christ Alone Keith Getty & Stuart Townend In Christ alone my hope is found; He is my light, my strength, my song; This cornerstone, this solid ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, When fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My comforter, my all in all Here in the love of Christ I stand. In Christ alone, who took on flesh, Fullness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness, Scorned by the ones he came to save. Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied; For ev ry sin on him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live. There in the ground his body lay, Light of the world by darkness slain; Then bursting forth in glorious day, Up from the grave he rose again! And as he stands in victory, Sin s curse has lost its grip on me; For I am his and he is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ. No guilt in life, no fear in death This is the pow r of Christ in me; From life s first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny. No pow r of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from his hand; Till he returns or calls me home Here in the pow r of Christ I ll stand. + PRAYER OF INVOCATION + HYMN: I Hear the Words of Love ST. MICHAEL I hear the words of love, I gaze upon the blood, I see the mighty sacrifice, and I have peace with God. Tis everlasting peace! Sure as Jehovah s Name, Tis stable as His steadfast throne, for evermore the same. I change, He changes not; the Christ can never die; His love, not mine, the resting-place, his truth, not mine, the tie. CHILDREN S SERMON: Heaven Forbid Children s Catechism #31 Q. What is meant by transgression? A. Doing what God forbids. HYMN: I Hear the Words of Love And yonder is my peace, the grave of all my woes! I know the Son of God has come, I know He died and rose. I know He liveth now at God s right hand above; I know the throne on which He sits, I know His truth and love! PRESENTATION OF EVENING OFFERINGS ST. MICHAEL OFFERTORY: Let All the Peoples Praise You Michael Bedford Let all the peoples praise you, O God; Let all the peoples praise you. From this time forth and forever more, Let all the peoples praise you. May God be gracious and bless us, May the face of God shine upon us, That the ways of God may be known upon the earth, God s saving pow r among all nations. The earth has yielded its increase, and God, Our own God, has blessed us; May God continue to bless us; Let the ends of the earth revere him. from Psalm 67 EVENING PRAYER Dr. Emily Stumpf, flute Elder Tom Ryan + HYMN: Jerusalem the Golden EWING Trinity Hymnal, no. 539, stanzas 1-3 Jerusalem the golden, with milk and honey blest, Beneath your contemplation sink heart and voice oppressed. I know not, O I know not, what joys await us there; What radiancy of glory, what bliss beyond compare. They stand, those halls of Zion, all jubilant with song, And bright with many an angel, and all the martyr throng. The Prince is ever in them, the daylight is serene; The pastures of the blessed are decked in glorious sheen. There is the throne of David; and there, from care released, The song of them that triumph, the shout of them that feast; And they who with their Leader have conquered in the fight, Forever and forever are clad in robes of white. SCRIPTURE LESSON: 1 Peter 1:3-5 (Pew Bible, page 1014) SERMON: Unchanging Grace for Uncertain Times Why You Should Get Out of Bed Dr. Gabriel N.E. Fluhrer PRAYER + HYMN: Jerusalem the Golden EWING Trinity Hymnal, no. 539, stanza 4 O sweet and blessed country, the home of God s elect! O sweet and blessed country that eager hearts expect! Jesus, in mercy bring us to that dear land of rest; Who are, with God the Father and Spirit, ever blest. Amen. + BENEDICTION + CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE May the Peace (Benediction) May the peace of God our heav nly Father, And the grace of Christ the risen Son, And the fellowship of God the Spirit Keep our hearts and minds within his love. And to him be praise for his glorious reign, From the depths of earth to the heights of heav n; We declare the name of the Lamb once slain, Christ eternal, the King of kings.
