Parish Mission Statement The mission of the Catholic communities of St. Blaise and St. Brendan is to be a people united in the Eucharist and dedicated to spreading the Good News of God s saving love to all. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we give witness to the teachings of Jesus Christ by actively living the corporal and spiritual works of mercy, thereby being signs of God s love in the world. Prayer Shawl Ministry ~ The Prayer Shawl ministry meets every Monday, except holidays and during inclement weather. The members of the ministry make BEAUTIFUL prayer shawls and lap blankets that have been blessed by Fr. Al. The ministry also makes beautiful white baptismal blankets, also blessed by Fr. Al, given to each child baptized at St. Blaise. If you know of a parishioner, family member or friend that may like a shawl or lap blanket, please call the office. New members are always welcome! ~Second Sunday of Ordinary Time~ Do whatever he tells you. These are the words of Mary at the end of today s gospel! Mary is saying these words to us too - to you and me. What is He telling us to do? The Psalm gives us one response - Proclaim his marvelous deeds to all the nations. St. Paul also reminds us that we have been given special gifts. Do you recognize the special gifts that the Spirit has given to you? Pray for the grace to use your gifts to proclaim his marvelous deeds to family, neighbors, friends, co-workers. Church in Latin America: Next week s second collection supports the Church in Latin America (CLA). The CLA provides support for pastoral projects in financially poorer diocese in Latin America and the Caribbean. CLA funds catechetical and lay leadership programs, youth ministry, evangelization programs, and formation programs for the religious, priests and deacons. CLA is making it possible for the Catholic faithful in the Western hemisphere to help each other. ~Cursillo: An Opportunity to Deepen Your Faith~ Cursillo is an encounter with Christ in a small community of the Church, in order to deepen your own faith and strengthen your ability to be witnesses of Christ in the world. The date for the Women s Cursillo weekend is February 28-March 3, 2019. The weekends run from Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon and are held at the Campion Center in Weston MA. This Holy Hour will be held at parishes throughout the Archdiocese so that we will be praying in solidarity with the thousands of pilgrims going to Washington, D.C. for the March for Life. Led by Fr. Al, we, along with our brothers and sisters of St. Brendan s will pray together for those who have been wounded by abortion, for respect for the dignity of human life from conception to natural death, and that those who govern us may be guided by justice, truth, and a love for the gift of life. The Holy Hour is organized by Boston Deacons for Life in collaboration with the Pro Life Office of the Archdiocese of Boston.
