OPENING PRAYER Leader: How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD of hosts! People: My soul longs, Leader: indeed it faints for the courts of the LORD; People: my heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God. Psalm 84:1-2 PRAYER OF CONFESSION Fallen in that first sin, we prove each day that apart from grace we are guilty sinners: we fail to thank God, we break God s laws, we ignore our tasks. Looking for life without God, we find death; grasping for freedom outside the law, we trap ourselves in Satan s snares; pursuing pleasure, we lose the gift of joy. From Our World Belongs to God: Contemporary Testimony. Adopted 2008 by the Christian Reformed Church in North America. ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS Christ, through the eternal Spirit, offered himself without blemish to God, and will purify our conscience from dead works to worship the living God. Adapted from Hebrews 9:14 *DOXOLOGY Gloria Patri No. 579 Congregation THE APOSTLES CREED (page 14 in the front of the hymnal) WELCOME TO VISITORS Congregation PRAYER REQUEST If you have a concern or request that you would like included in the Pastoral Prayer, please jot it down on the index card found in the pew rack and hand it to a deacon as they walk the aisle during the singing of the Welcome Song. WE PROCLAIM GOD S WORD PRAYER OF THANKS AND PRAISE (For the elderly) Leader: For those who are in the years of life that we sometimes call golden, we raise our prayers of thanks and intercession. People: Hear our prayers, O Lord. Leader: For those who have over the years contributed so much, who have been faithful in their responsibilities, who have demonstrated so much love, Leader: For those who have left us with a legacy worthy to be followed, Leader: For those who can look back over the years with pride and satisfaction, Leader: For those who now have new opportunities for service, new paths to explore, and new dreams to aspire to, Leader: For those who, despite new limitations and new health issues, model for us the value of courage and faith, FIRST SCRIPTURE LESSON (Old Testament) Exodus 32:7-14 (pew bible page 77) One: All: The Word of the Lord Thanks be to God! SECOND SCRIPTURE LESSON (New Testament) Luke 15:1-10 (pew bible page 72) One: All: This is the Gospel of the Lord Praise be to you, O Christ SERMON: LOST AND FOUND * Please stand.
