FROM THE DESK OF FR. FALLON Pretty awesome Gospel we have this weekend, right? Yes, except for the fact that just a couple verses later the people led him to the brow of the hill on which their town had been built, to hurl him down headlong. As much as people loved Jesus and the deeds He did and miracles He worked, He made a lot of people angry, furious to the point of wanting to kill Him. Why? Because He challenged them, spurred them on not to think only of themselves, but of the least, the unfortunate, the outcast. His Gospel was polarizing as much as it is redemptive. So where do you stand? Do you want to hurl Jesus and His Church s teachings headlong over the brow of a hill? We hear how Today the Word is fulfilled in our hearing. Part of that fulfillment is you and me taking the Gospel out into the streets, to proclaim Jesus, even when others might throw us headlong over hills ourselves! Anyway, just a thought for this weekend. Let s not get too cozy. Let s ask Jesus to give us the courage and charity to speak as He speaks, to preach the Good News. God Bless You! Fr. Fallon
