Twenty Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time, September 16, 2018 Isaiah would suffer and call upon the Lord for help. Jesus speaks of his own suffering and death and of the demands of discipleship. What use is faith, to confess that Jesus is the Christ without works of love? Welcome! You enter this Church not as a stranger, but as a guest of God. As a baptized person, you enter it as a son or daughter of the Father in Christ. This House of God, therefore, is your family home. Come in then with humility of mind, joy of heart and thanks on your lips. Come in and pause in prayer in the midst of your busy life and its many worries. Special Event Meeting Sunday, September 16 th at 6:00 pm Monday, September 17 th at 9:30 am Church An event for those who love the Church in this difficult time of scandal. Time for clarity, support, questions and prayer. This is a time for engagement rather than stepping back to wait and see. Every member of the Body of Christ plays a part. Let us discern what part we are called to play at this time, and then act on it together. Child care will be provided on Sunday evening. Our Lady of the Lake Website www.ourladyofthelakeromancatholic.org If you have not checked out our website now is the time. There are interesting videos, articles, upcoming information about events at the church. Make it one of your favorites! Conny Erlenbaugh s Retirement & Farewell Party Sunday, September 23 rd ALL ARE WELCOME! 5:00 pm Mass Potluck to follow in Holy Family Parish Center The parish will provide the meat, the dessert, and the beverages. Paper products and eating utensils will also be provided. Anyone attending is encouraged to bring side dishes and salads. Please put items in disposable containers. Do you want to be a PRAYER SPONSOR? We have a great group of children and adults who are inquiring about becoming Roman Catholic. As a parish community we need to keep these individuals in prayer. Satan is going to try and distract these individuals because he doesn t want our Church to grow. Would you consider being a prayer sponsor for one of these individuals? Please contact the Religious Education Office, (928)855-2685 to be a prayer sponsor.

Thank You for calling us to proclaim God s presence and to announce the Good News of the Gospel to those we teach. Guided by Your Holy Spirit and the teachings of Your Holy Church, may we always be faith-filled filled and courageous catechists. May love and concern for those we teach always be our guiding motivation. May our hearts be on fire within us as we prepare our lessons and our class activities. May we view every lesson we teach as an opportunity to share God s incredible love. Thank You for your calling. Thank You for your love. Amen.

Prayer for Vocations Lord of the Harvest, help us to create a true culture of discernment and vocations in our parish so that all of us in this parish family may seek to faithfully offer our lives as a loving response to your first gift of life and love. Illumine our families to be a light, working together to bring your kingdom of justice and peace, not just here in this community, but in the whole world. By your Holy Spirit, may our hearts burn more and more to know Your Son, Jesus Christ, and to make Him known forever. Amen. Amen. Are you living as a disciple of Christ? Our school and parish family are definitely responding with a resounding yes! We are integrating Disciples of Christ an Education in Virtue in our curriculum and parish life. Our Lady of the Lake Parish family will honor God in words and actions. Every month we will ask the Holy Spirit to help us cultivate and grow in a focused virtue. Our featured virtue for September is Loving with Justice. We need your help! Your time, talent and presence is in dire need in order for our school to continue to grow as God desires. How, you may ask? There are plenty of opportunities for you to serve during the day. Here are just a few ways that you can help the children and school. Entrance Song We Remember Marty Haugen Refrain: We remember how you loved us to your death, and still we celebrate, for you are with us here; And we believe that we will see you when you come, in your glory, Lord, we remember, we celebrate, we believe. Here, a million wounded souls are yearning just to touch you and be healed; Gather all your people, and hold them to your heart; Now we recreate your love, we bring the bread and wine to share a meal; Sign of grace and mercy, the Presence of the Lord; Christ, the Father s great Amen to all the hopes and dreams of ev ry heart; Peace beyond all telling, and freedom from all fear. Psalm 116 I will walk before the Lord, in the land of the living. Offertory Song The Summons John L. Bell Will you come and follow me if I but call your name? Will you go where you don t know and never be the same? Will you let my love be shown, will you let my name be known, will you let my life be grown in you and you in me? Will you leave yourself behind if I but call your name? Will you care for cruel and kind and never be the same? Will you risk the hostile stare should your life attract or scare? Will you let me answer pray r in you and you in me? Will you let the blinded see if I but call your name? Will you set the pris ners free and never be the same? Will you kiss the leper clean, and do such as this unseen, and admit to what I mean in you and you in me? Will you love the you you hide if I but call your name? Will you quell the fear inside and never be the same? Will you use the faith you ve found to reshape the world around, through my sight and touch and sound in you and you in me? Communion Songs Unless a Grain of Wheat Bernadette Farrell Refrain: Unless a grain of wheat shall fall up on the ground and die, it remains but a single grain with no life. If we have died with him then we shall live with him; if we hold firm we shall reign with him. If anyone serves me then they must follow me; where ever I am my servants will be. Make your home in me as I make mine in you; those who remain in me bear much fruit. If you remain in me and my word lives in you, then you will be my disciples. Those who love me are loved by my Father; we shall be with them and dwell in them. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; peace which the world cannot give is my gift. Closing Song Lead Me Lord John D. Becker Blessed are the poor in spirit, longing for their Lord, for God s coming kingdom shall be theirs. Blessed are the sorrowing, for they shall be consoled, and the meek shall come to rule the world. Refrain: Lead me, Lord, lead me, Lord, by the light of truth to seek and to find the narrow way. Be my way; be my truth; be my life, my Lord, and lead me, Lord, today. Blessed are the merciful, for mercy shall be theirs, and the pure in heart shall see their God. Blest are they whose hunger only holiness can fill, for I say they shall be satisfied. Prayer to Saint Michael, the Archangel St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. SPIRITUAL COMMUNION PRAYER (For those who are not able to receive Communion at this time) My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Words and music used with permission.
