P 4 N 22, 2015 11th Anniversary of Perpetual Adoration 2004 2015 Reflections on Adoration Unless you make the commitment, no one can possibly understand the impact of Adora on on the soul my soul. The pace of this life is nothing but a distrac on for me and I sin constantly. Though red most days, I need the refreshing moments early in the morning to start my day. I make me for God and He spends me with me. Only through those quiet moments did I come to realize the impact of His gi on the cross and that receiving His Body and Blood were the key element to my salva on. Though unworthy, I wait and I long for the grace to hear God talk to me! In Adora on, I have that chance. Mike Phinney (M,W,F 4-5am) People always say they don't have me for it. I have four children ages 2 to 13, and I am pre y much a single parent during the week with some help on weekends. I started Adora on while we were s ll at St. Paul's in Riverside it was brand-new, and I started out of obliga on to help rather than dedica on to Jesus. Through my silent conversa ons with Him during my Holy Hour I came to know how much He wants to bless me. We all profess to know that our God can do anything. But I am just finally star ng to realize what anything really means. Through Adora on of the Blessed Sacrament He blessed me by bending me. What do I mean by this? I mean the more me I give to him the more me I seem to get. I could be working on a task for what seems like an hour and look up and it's only been 20 minutes or if I'm running late somewhere and it should take me a certain amount of me to get there and o en I will get there sooner than I thought I could. It took me a while to make the connec on to realize that it was God who was stretching my me. Most of all though I love being with Him. It does not ma er what is going on in my life or my day when I walk in the chapel all the stress melts away and I am overcome by His peace. (wife and mom, Sun 9-10pm) As a husband and father of six, my quiet me is very limited. The busy -ness of my life had led to a struggle in my prayer life. I was not able to keep my commitment to my daily prayer me, or if I was it was a constant struggle to pay a en on and tune out the distrac ons. When the opportunity to make weekly Holy Hour was presented to me I realized that it was my chance to spend uninterrupted me with our Lord. The Chapel is quiet so early in the mornings and I am able to devote the me to my morning prayers, a rosary and spiritual reading. This special one on one me with Christ helps strengthen my faith and reaffirm my commitment to my family. It gives me the pa ence and understanding throughout the week to be a be er father to my children and husband to my wife. My Holy Hour has been a true gi from God. (Sun 4-5am) The hour that I spend each week with Jesus in the Holy Eucharist has become very precious to me; I love having that me early in the morning, in the silence, without distrac ons, when I can talk to Jesus about whatever I want. I can ask Him to take care of the people I have been asked to pray for, I can read His words in the Bible and ask Him what He wants me to learn from them, and I can lay everything that I am facing at His feet with the faith that He will help me get through it; but most of all I am able to simply be with Him, to be with the One who loved me enough to die for me. During Eucharis c Adora on I have learned a lot about myself and about Jesus; it has really increased my love for Christ, and I think and hope that along the way He has used Adora on to make me more like Him. (16 yr old young lady, 4-5am Sunday) Christmas Flowers We will be decorating the sanctuary with poinsettias and mums for the Christmas season. If you would like to contribute to the purchase of these flowers, in memory or in thanksgiving you can find donation envelopes in the Narthex or the parish office. You may put them in offertory basket or bring to the office. Thank you in advance for your generosity. Christmas Neighborhood Outreach Bag Stuffing Party needs you! This Christmas, we are planning to reach out to all of our actively registered parishioners with a special Christmas gift and offering information about all of our evangelization programs in our parish. We are in need of donors to offset the cost of these gifts, as well as people to help pack gift bags. We will have a bag stuffing party on Saturday, December 5 at 9:30am. We need many hands to properly pack the gifts and materials for delivery to all of our parishioners the following week. We also need 100 volunteers who will help deliver these gifts two by two, just like the early disciples. Our goal is to reach out to all those who call St. Catherine their parish home and provide them with good Catholic information as they prepare for Christmas. For more information and to volunteer or donate, e-mail Vincent Reilly at vreilly@stcatherineop.com. Attention Altar Servers, Ushers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and Readers: Volunteers are needed for Thanksgiving Day 10 a.m. Mass. Sign up sheet is in the Sacristy. Thank you!
