From Our Pastor... Many nights I go to bed exhausted from a long day of serving the Lord. In my night prayer as I reflect on the day, asking forgiveness of my sins, my heart and thoughts always end with an overwhelming prayer of gratitude for the many ways that God revealed His love to me through you, my parishioners. I truly mean that. On this feast of, as we celebrate the Real Presence of the Holy Spirit in our midst and in our personal lives, I give thanks to God for each and everyone of you for being a sign of the Spirit s Goodness and Love. Because of the large size of our parish I don t get the opportunity to visit with you personally very often or tell you how much you mean to me and how grateful I am for the gift you are to our parish and to me personally. Our scriptures for today remind us that every person has particular gifts that God uses for His Church and the world. For those of you who are involved in leadership roles and put in extra hours of volunteering, our parish is deeply grateful for what you do for us. For those of you who do your part with extra praying or serving behind the scenes, know that you are greatly appreciated. I am simply amazed at the variety of talents right here at St. Clare parish and it is a joy to serve as pastor of such a symphony of gifted sons and daughters of God! If anyone is feeling left out or disconnected or unsure of how to get involved in the parish, please let me know what our parish or I can do to help. Our Stewardship Council is working hard at trying to help each person know how to use their gifts in the parish and to know how much you are needed and valued at St. Clare. Let us celebrate the Masses this weekend with hearts full of extra gratitude that God gives us the privilege of serving Him...in the parish, in our homes, and out in the world. May the Spirit of Peace be with you, Fr. Jim Deiters Please join our parish family as we say So long, Sister Carolyn!! Jesus disciples received the Holy Spirit at through the flames of Love and were transformed and equipped to go out into the world to use their God-given gi s for all people. Through our Bap sm, we too are transformed to do the same. In this CD, Rising Above: From Tragedy to Triumph, interna onal speaker John O Leary gives an emo onal yet joy-filled and even humorous talk on how he literally experienced transforma on through fire, physically and spiritually. John asks us, Where does God show up in our lives? In good mes, bad mes, tragedy, our suffering when mes are great, we find it easy to be Light to others. When the weight of the world is crushing, it s Love that helps us. Rising above HIS challenges, John challenges us to Ignite your possibili es and change your world. A na ve of St. Louis, John recently spoke to all students at Althoff Catholic High school he had them mesmerized! Check out this CD to hear what kept them so engaged and inspired! At nine years old, John O Leary was involved in a horrific incident and was given only a one percent chance to survive. Today, nearly three decades later, he travels the world, teaching others how to truly live. In this presenta on, John draws on his life s experience to in mately illustrate how God o en uses our greatest challenges to posi vely transform our lives. Love changes us. If we truly give the Holy Spirit control of our lives, we can change. John s triumph is beyond inspira onal, and the witness of those who helped him along the way will change you forever! It is impossible to listen to this story without coming to a deeper understanding of what it means to fulfill the law of Christ as your heart cries out, What more can I do? What an emo onal roller coaster! But how great is our GOD!? True faith and trust not only in God but in God s people! So many miracles! How amazing! To check out more on John O Leary s story, or to sign up for his blog and vlog, go to rising-above.com. Check out more engaging CDs, Books and Booklets in our Lighthouse Catholic Media kiosk in the Gathering Space! The cost of each helps us to order more tles.
