OVERVIEW CARD Key Question: Bottom Line: Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him. Memory Verse: Bible Story Focus: Everyone needs Jesus. Healing the Deaf Man Mark 7:32-37 Coloring Page: Jesus heals a man who couldn t hear or talk. Music: Great Big God Super Wonderful Amazing Things Bible Lesson: Read back of Coloring Page Story: I Know Jesus Loves Me by P.K. Hallinan

ACTIVITY 1 ALL AGES Loud and Soft Big Idea: Children will practice saying the memory verse louder and louder and then softer and softer. What You Need: No supplies needed Have the children sit in a circle in the activity area. Ask them why the man in the story needed Jesus. (He couldn t hear) Have them use their ears by reminding them of this month s memory verse, You are everything I need. Say the memory verse again, but this time challenge the children to say it louder than the first time. Say the verse a third time even louder! Ask the children to say it as loud as they can. Then ask the children to say the verse with a softer voice, and challenge them to say it even softer. Lastly, ask the children to say the verse as softly as they can. Repeat as desired and *Bring it Back to Jesus After the Activity: God gave us ears to hear quiet and loud sounds. You all did a great job using your ears to listen to the verse. The man in our lesson could not hear, but after Jesus helped him, he could hear perfectly! Jesus gave him what he needed and He gives us what we need too! Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him!

ACTIVITY 2 ALL AGES Four Corners Big Idea: Children will walk to the colored corner you show them by holding up a color. What You Need: Red, green, blue, and yellow cardstock paper (2 pieces of each color) Place the red, green, blue, and yellow construction paper in each corner of the room one color per corner. Hold the matching colors of paper in your hand. Gather the children in the center of the room. Point out the four pieces of colored paper in the four corners of the room, reviewing each color as you point them out. Explain to the children that when you hold up one of the colors, they must go to that color corner in the room. Remind them that you will not say the color so they must watch. Once all children have made it to that corner of the room, call them back to the center of the room to repeat with a different color. Repeat as time and interest allow then *Bring it Back to Jesus. FOR 2/3 YEAR OLDS: If this is too difficult for the little ones, play follow the leader and have them follow behind you to the right corner as you hold up the colored paper. FOR 4/5 YEAR OLDS: Ask them to travel to the corner in different ways (jumping, crawling, skipping, etc.) What You Say: After the Activity: Since you couldn t hear me you had to watch what color I held up so you knew where to go. The man in our lesson could not hear, but after Jesus helped him, he could hear perfectly! Jesus gave him what he needed and He gives us what we need too! Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him!

ACTIVITY 3 ALL AGES FACE MATCH GAME Big Idea: Children will collect cards (2 s/3 s) or match cards with another child (4 s/5 s). What You Need: Face match game cards Have the kids sit on the carpet in the activity area. Remind the children that God made us and all of the parts of our bodies! Explain that today we learned about a man who could not hear with his ears and that our last story was about a man who could not see with his eyes. FOR 4/5 YEAR OLDS: Give each child a card but tell them not to show their friends which part of the face they have. Ask the kids to hold onto their card and spread out in the room. When you say, Go, they should walk around and find someone who has the same card they do. Once they find their match they should come show you. Continue until all kids find a match. Repeat as desired and *Bring it Back to Jesus FOR 2/3 YEAR OLDS: Scatter the cards around the room and have the children go and find a card. When they come back to you see if they can point to the part of their own face that is on the card. After the Activity: The man in our lesson could not hear with his ears, but after Jesus helped him, he could hear perfectly! Jesus gave him what he needed and He gives us what we need too! Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him!

CRAFT WEEK 3 Bottom Line Cross What you need: Cross Sheet, Bottom Line Labels, Markers, Stamp Pads, Dot Markers, Crayons, Paint What you do: Remind the children of our bottom line, Jesus is there when I need him. Give each child a cross paper. Have the kids color the cross with whichever works best for your age group: Stamp pad finger prints, crayons, dot markers, markers or paint Help them place the Bottom Line Label in the center of the cross. When they are finished, put them in the bags and *Bring it Back to Jesus. What you say: After the activity: This cross reminds me of Jesus. The man in our lesson could not hear, but after Jesus helped him, he could hear perfectly! Jesus gave him what he needed and He gives us what we need too! Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him!

CRAFT WEEK 4 Magic Scratch Crosses What You Need: Crosses and Magic Scratch Pencils (Craft sticks for 2 s) Hold up a cross and remind the children that this cross reminds us of Jesus. Give each child a cross and show them how to use the pencil to create their very own cross to take home. Encourage the kids to hang the cross up at home to remind them that Jesus is there when I need Him! Put the crosses in the bags and *Bring it Back to Jesus What You Say: After the activity: This cross reminds me of Jesus. The man in our lesson could not hear, but after Jesus helped him, he could hear perfectly! Jesus gave him what he needed and He gives us what we need too! Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him!

STORY/PRAYER TIME STORY/PRAYER TIME What you Need: Parent Take Home Card, Storybook I Know Jesus Loves Me, Playdoh, Cookie Cutters, Rolling Pins, and Sticker Roll Read: Have the children sit at the table while you read the book, I Know Jesus Loves Me. The Children can either play with playdoh or color the coloring sheet to keep their hands busy while you read. Review: Ask the kids some questions and give them a sticker when they answer. Go from child to child and have them repeat the memory verse for a sticker. Ask the children the Bottom Line question for a sticker. Using the Parent Take Home card, ask each child individually the questions pertaining to this week s lesson and give out a sticker. Pray: Ask the kids to bow their heads and fold their hands while you pray. Here is a sample prayer you can use if you choose: Dear God, we need you just like the man in our story today. Thank you that you are ALWAYS there when we need your help. We love you, Amen.
