This new translation has been published for use throughout the English-speaking countries of the United States, Canada, England, Ireland, India, Australia and English speaking areas of Africa. The New Roman Missal is inaugurated at the beginning of Advent and the beginning of the New Church Year, so that Christ may be made present among us in an ever fuller manner. Advent is a time of anticipation; it is a time of waiting. The people of the Old Testament waited for over 2,000 years for the first coming of Christ, and the people of the New Testament era have waited over 2,000 years for His second coming at the end of time. It is in this spirit of anticipating Christ s presence among us that the New Roman Missal is implemented. When Pope Benedict XVI received this new translation of the Roman Missal on April 28, 2010, he acknowledged the great labor expended in the preparation and translation of texts that proclaim the truth of our redemption in Christ, the Incarnate Word of God. At that time, Pope Benedict emphasized: I welcome the news that the English translation of the Roman Missal will soon be ready for publication, so that the texts you have worked so hard to prepare may be proclaimed in the liturgy that is celebrated across the Anglophone world. Through these sacred texts and the actions that accompany them, Christ will be made present and active in the midst of his people. Some may find it difficult to adjust to unfamiliar texts after nearly forty years of continuing use of the previous English translation. We will make mistakes and we will learn from our mistakes as we implement the New Roman Missal, and that is fine, because we are a pilgrim people in this world, where we make mistakes and learn from our mistakes every day. School Principal Ext. 201 School Secretary Ext. 200 Rusty Albertson ralbertson@stmarkindy.org Peggy Mehalik pmehalik@stmarkindy.org I wish to especially thank Deacon Kerry Blandford, Mary Lynn Cavanaugh and Andy Eagan for their planning and presentations to the Liturgical Ministers earlier in the Fall, as well as after the Masses on three consecutive weekends, which have helped us prepare to pray the Mass, rather than merely praying at Mass and sing the Mass rather than merely singing at Mass. Be sure to check our website for current Parish events and happenings! www.stmarkindy.org If you would like to become a member of St. Mark Parish, please call the parish office or stop by to register. Ultimately, the mystery of language brings us back to the inscrutable mystery of God, himself. Blessed John Paul II
